OWH: Outgoing UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman leaves with unmet goal: Huskers’ return to top

It's amusing to me that Perlman would invoke respect for Osborne's legacy while also justifying the idiocy of firing Frank in '03 and later Bo for "not winning the games that matter."
Well, Bo absolutely did not win the games that mattered so what's your point?
Yea Frank probably should not have been fired, but how can anyone still defend Bo? He told you to go F*ck yourself. Bo was an embarrassment, he had a terrible petulant temper, and he could not win the games that mattered.

Harvey's greatest achievement was Sh*t canning ole BO. I commend Harvey for that endeavor.
I don't think Bo ever said "Throwing Bones, go ____ yourself." But maybe I missed that Omaha/Journalstar article.
LMAO!!!111oneone111!!

Obviously he didn't use your HB name, or your RL name but he did tell the fans to go F themselves, and if you're a fan (I'm assuming you are since you are here posting) that applies to you as well.
It wasn't directed at all the fans.

Sorry to hear, but not surprised, that you felt it was directed at you.

So I was the one that was educated on the topic. Got it!

Not at all surprised that you remembered the precise moment when the booing started, as you most likely participated in it. I thought you were trying to deny it happened at all.
Ohhhh.... You got me!

I was trying to figure out when Taylor was booed for "coming back in the game" as I didn't remember that at all. I do remember the disgust in the stands after the pick and the subsequent FG giving OSU a 20-6 lead at half. You have never seen a husker fan scorned like the 75 yo grandmas I was sitting around. The stuff coming out of their mouths directed at Bo was not PG.

He told fans who booed his players to go f#*k themselves. And I echo his sentiments.
Great leadership skills right there. So CM do you ever think you will get over the firing of BP? Ans can you please enlighten us all with what bo might have accomplished had he not been fired?
BP obsessions?

How's that glass house of yours?

Nebraska fans, like 90% of P5 fans and 99% of all other fans, need to come to grips with the reality that we will likely never win another NC.

Chasing that ring is more likely to lead to sub .500 seasons than division and conf titles.

I think if TO had stayed as AD, Bo would still be here and we would have won 10 or 12 games this past season. And we'd be in a better spot today than we are currently in terms of pulling off a conf championship.

Problem is, and I think it will lead NU to become truly mediocre, that sort of result isn't good enough for most fans.
You forget the status quo was always four loses, that is tangible evidence for you to chew on.

BO would have lost to Wisconsin, State, UCLA, Purdue, Illinois, northwestern, Miami, BYU by double digits, and the white team during spring ball.
Riley's status quo is a career .500 coach, and his record was less than that last year. Is that tangible evidence too much for your baby teeth?

I was at a tailgate with guys from the 1990s championship teams at halftime. They were furious about the first half and most of them weren't going back in for the 2nd half.

There were plenty of reasons for people to be pissed during that game. The team didn't look prepared to play early on and were bumbling around looking stupid for more than half the game. It took Martinez, Burkhead and David combined to get that team's head back in the game.

And when Miller went down and Bauserman came in, that crowd was more than any coach could hope for in a home game. That place was rocking and the 4th quarter was one of the funnest atmospheres I've ever been in.

Also, because it's never not funny:

Seriously, in the grand scheme, what does it matter what Bo Pelini's 2015 record would have been?

OVER AND OVER AND OVER Riley's biggest detractors on here keep pointing to his career .500ish record as a tangible fact that he can't be successful here. But by goodness don't you dare point to the fact that in 7 years Bo failed 3 times to deliver a conference championship when the opportunity got easier every......freaking......time. I'd be far more interested in discussing who would have been hired had we canned Bo after he ASKED TO BE CANNED in 2013.

For me, who gives to shakes what Bo's record would have been? Here let me just take a stab at it off the top of my head

BYU - W

USA - W

@Miami - L

SMISS - W

Illinois - W

Wiscy - L

@ Minny - W

NW - L

@ Purdue - W

MSU - L

Rutgers - W

Iowa - L

I have no proof to back this up whatsoever, just like anybody here has 0 proof that I'm wrong. The wheels were coming off, we lost a bunch of guys who saved a deceptively bad 2014 and I have little faith that Bo's players running through Demons would have gotten him a better record than I laid out there.

Point is this: Say Bo stayed and gave us the turd I listed above. Are we any closer to relativity or a conference title? Nope. After Riley's disastrous debut campaign are we closer?

You tell me...

You seem to be an easily excitable and dishonest person. Everything you seem to be alluding to above didn't actually happen.

Are you sure you are in the correct thread?

So, a group of unsigned recruits are the best indication that things will get better? That's disturbing. And probably a bit thin considering that this staff took a starting line up of 12+ NFLers to a 6-7 record.
So at least 1/2 of the 2015 starting lineup will be in the NFL? I'd like to hear the names.

Look at the thread for the 2017 and 2018 drafts. Consensus there was that 8 or so would be drafted during the next two years. Add in a couple of FA guys and there you go. 12 or so guys off this past seasons starting lineups that get into the NFL.

By comparison, the 7 teams NU lost to this year had about 12 guys drafted between them. None had 4 drafted.

At least it's actually something to build off of for a brighter future. When did Bo EVER deliver us something other than the same disappointing season with slightly different ingredients.

The man had 3 tries at a conference title, and every time he found a way to lose it more spectacularly than the last.

I thought a lot of classes and a lot of recruits during the previous couple of years gave me a lot of hope. But hey, you don't like the talent we brought in. I get it. Enjoy the star gazing.

Bo could not, and did not ever recruit a good QB, he also could not put a viable team together that knew how to mitigate the flood gates from opening.

Why is it acceptable to get destroyed by Wisconsin by 70 points? why was it ok to justify indolent recruiting efforts by placing blame on the location? Why was it ok to scream, and curse out fans? Nerbaskans pay taxes, they supported BO's pay check.. Phuck that manic depressed little gurl.. Ohhhh I got Sh*t canned so Ima call boss a c*nt lol. Ohhh the fans booed me, ima tell em to f*ck off!!! Ohhh the ref blew a call, ima spit in his face and wave my hat around...

Bo is back in the rust belt where he belongs.
