My Spring Game Coverage

Ok this is my Spring Game Coverage, this is info I either saw just while watching the game or some of the things I noticed while getting players autographs after it, so lets start...

QBs

-First of all the QBs... the talk of Ganz is what the team wants seemed to be kind of true. The way they acted when he scored his first TD they were loose and having fun with him. But then Keller did the game with Cody Glenn on the South endzone so that doesnt seem to be a factor. Both were dead even as far as their play, and for what its worth after the game I saw the 2 talking about what they were going to do and they had plans to go hang out with each other, among other players. On a side note, Keller will be #9 come fall, #5 will not be his number just one given to him to practice with.

RBs

-Next the Running Backs... they looked pretty weak today. Lucky and Glenn looked good at times but nothing great, but hey its Spring ball. After the game Cody told me he kind of tweaked his ankle again during the game but said it would be "fine". I also saw Lucky after the game on crutches with him saying "Right now its just really sore".

Major Culbert

-This should probably go with the RBs portion but I think its a pretty big deal. While getting Major Culberts autograph we were talking about his game today and I said "Well hopefully we can just get you back on D" and he kind of hesitated walked away a bit a turned to me and said "This year Im not going back to Defense"

WRs/Will Henry

-The WRs need to quit dropping balls, as simple as that! Will Henry was kind of hinting and frustrated at the fact he didnt think the white team WRs had a chance to really show their stuff saying "Its set up for us to have to struggle, its a Spring Game, but I'm still disappointed we didn't win" Man this kid just breaths potential... he seems so mature and humble. He wants to win and contribute, hopefully he gets a chance.

B Law

-I talked with Blake Lawrence, "B Law", a bit and he seemed super pumped to get in here and play. He was a really nice guy and talked to me for a bit about him coming in. He will be wearing #12 when he comes in as a LB.

Recruiting

-Finally probably the best thing I saw all day, Blaine Gabbert was pretty much atached to the hip of already commited OL Dan Hoch. This is great for many reasons. Hoch chose NU over Iowa and right now Blaines top 3 (in no order) is Nebraska, Iowa, Mizzou. Also Hoch just might have told him about this class of OL coming in to keep his jersey pretty clean for years to come. I wouldnt be suprised if we see a commit soon. I asked him how liked the game and he said "Man this was awesome, I love this place, I had tons of fun"

Mondo

-On a side note Andre Jones told me we are to only call Armondo Murillo, by either Mondo or Murillo because Armondo Murillo all together is to hard :rollin

It looked like the recuirts had a pretty good time I saw a lot of kids askin them for autographs and their parents shaking hands and talking to them, I thought that would make them feel good and help them know that the state of nebraska is serious about football

If the kids didn't get the picture yesterday of how serious Nebraska is about this football team they need to have their heads checked. It's good that the fans talked to them and made them feel welcomed.

Heres a picture of all the recruits on hand that I took during warmups...

Also if anyone is curious Blaine Gabbert is the first row in that picture almost right in the middle with a light blue lettermens jacket with white sleves on and a red Nebraska hat.

Ganz is solid, but Keller's more refined. Stronger arm, stronger build, a little taller, a little older, more zip, etc.

Oooh boy... I'd rather have him on defense. But that's not my decision.

I thought so to but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. If he did play Defense he would be a Safety, but we have plenty of guys at Safety: Green, Asante, Thenarse, and Wilson. At RB if Lucky is hurt badly, and I hope he isnt, its possible the only guy that has some experience in the system will be Glenn who isnt even 100% yet. Culbert showed some shifty moves yesterday to, reminded me of a bigger Cory Ross. He had no OL and no holes so he didnt look great but with the 1st team he could be a stud.

Yea I guess you're right...There was one play where he got the handoff and a guy came flying into the backfield and he just side-stepped him like it was nothing. All I could say was "wow".
