Swinging at the first pitch is still not prudent early in the game when he's walked 6 batters already and not proven he can get ahead of a batter.

My unofficial, pay me for what it is worth opinion is that we are seeing an overreaction from so many guys who struck out looking against Oklahoma State.

 
For an MLB caliber guy, Boldt sure doesn't help us much.

Could be. I did consciously think earlier to myself that we're seeing way too many useless outs like pop-ups into foul territory or weak grounds hit right at guys.
At least you can blame the grounders on BABIP. The pop-ups are just completely useless.
