Anyone else impressed with his Spring Game? He was matched up with Purify pretty much the whole game and I think he held his own. Purify is up there in the Big XII with Sweed and Bowman as the hardest WR to guard I think he did a great job. He was really physical with him off the line and looked for the ball when it was in the air and atleast attempted to make a play, and I believe he did all of this with a broken hand or wrist. He also made some tackles and was in a lot of the action. If Bowman doesnt make it back by seasons start I think this guy could really be our #1 corner. I thought he did better than Bowman did in his first Spring action and this guy will be starting opposite Andre Jones against Nevada, if he doesnt that will mean Zack Bowman has recovered.

Heres some pictures of him during the game...

He saved a TD on this play, but Lucky scored the next play....

He may get some PT, but I don't think he will be the #1 corner, let alone start this year. Next year looks good for him to be the guy.

There is no way anyone can convince me that Grixby is better than Murillo. Just the way he finds the ball and trys to make a play is impressive for our defensive backs. For how many times I've seen #2 just let it go over him for a huge play or look around like crazy and not come close to finding the ball its refreshing seeing Murillo out there making plays.

Also Murillo is more of a team guy, coming in just a few months ago I think the team already likes him more than Grixby. Grixby is a cocky kind of guy thats out for himself, I've never seen him after the games hanging out with any of the players just leaving the stadium as fast as he can where Murillo was hanging out with Andre Jones and Lucky after the Spring Game and seemed to be liked by a lot of the players.

I saw Murillo after the team dinner walking out along side with Andre Jones, Lucky, Holt, Henry, and a couple guys I couldnt identify by their face all laughing and giving autographs and saw Grixby earlier leave by himself and just get out quick not even going to the team BBQ. Everything I've heard about Ronnell Grixby, Courtneys younger brother, and why we dropped his schlorship reminds me of what you see with Courtney. Also there were people saying this winter they saw Grixby getting in a fight with another football player at a basketball game.

As long as he doesn't take it out on the field with him. Who knows maybe it's his way of getting focused for this year. He took a lot of heat last year for his play. Granted some of it may have been his own doing but I thought the safety play didn't help him much even though everyone knew they were going to be working on him the whole game. To many times he was left alone on those tall receivers.

GBR!!!

Murillo sure looks the part of a Big 12 CB. Nice and big. I was skeptical of him given the slow starts of both Bowman and Jones, but maybe he can surprise.

He's the only one of the three who enrolled early, so he might have a head start that will translate to on-field performance.

I'd love to see Jones, Murillo, and Bowman as our top 3 CBs...

I thought he looked VERY good for a guy that has only been in the system for a couple of months. He will be lightyears ahead of where Jones was at the beginning of next season. He kept up with Purify pretty well, especially considering he had that damn club on his hand. I would not be surprised at all to see him start come fall.

Murillo will be solid, but it will be hard for him to get past 2 out of 3 seniors with starting experience. He will play a lot, I imagine, providing relief and being able to get a good db on the field in the nickel instead of having an LB cover a receiver like last year.
