What did we learn-Wyoming edition

We also get points if TA throws the ball into the 30th row on the first three plays. The pass option was not a bad decision by the staff. If TA throws the ball away. We have 2nd down. Now the defense has to start thinking are we going to pass again or run? NU runs the ball on each consecutive play until we score with a defense that is 50/50 r/p. Nothing wrong with that thinking - execution ruined the drive.

 
That's why I said most likely Elf or did you miss that. You guys can make all the excuses you want for the call but it still doesn't make it a good one.

How many more times does he have to make bad decisions before they realize they can't trust him to throw the ball away if it's not there?

They were called, but they used Ozigbo instead of Newby. Commentators even called the coaches out on it at one point.

Though considering how weak Oregon is against the run (see last night's game vs. VA), could some of this be not wanting to show too much on film?

I was at the game so I don't know what the commentators said. Glad they at least pointed that out.

Ozigbo may have gotten a couple outside carries but he was mostly stuck going straight ahead as well - though that's not as bad of a choice with a big back.

 
So we should never call a pass play because if the results aren't positive it was bad play calling. Guessing after a couple games of throwing zero passes the defense may put 11 in the box. Hope we don't fumble another handoff because that takes away the RB - then again we did fumble the exchange from center to QB. Those coaches - can't believe they called a play where we actually snapped the ball. Don't they understand that we need to stick to the playbook that fits our strengths.

you are correct, however TA does have 57 or more passing TD's so we could use that arguement to counter your bold statement. Wonder what our 4 year record would be if TA had zero passing TD's? Or zero passing yards?

Are you delusional GBR? Not saying that we shouldn't throw the ball. Saying that was a terrible play call. If Riley really wants to be a running team isn't that the perfect time to impose your will on a weaker opponent? The funny thing is people are worried about almost interceptions but are fine with Langsdorf calling 36 pass plays. Makes very little sense.

Straw men??? How about - I enjoy arguing about Dumb a** post. You made a comment that we can't trust him to pass because he will not throw the ball away. Which suggest that throwing the ball is not an option for TA... That is a solid comment on your part.

as mentioned in my post above the pass is a smart play becuase it pulls the defenses mind away from the run. If the play isn't open (unsucessful) then the next two plays the defense is wondering if we will pass or run - meaning they have to be balanced instead of sending all 11 for the run. Not the only call that could have been made, however not a bad call either - poor execution by a guy that had a pretty solid game. It would be nice to have oregon next week in the same spot - 1st and goal at the 4. Now they will be thinking is TA going to guide a running play or a passing play???? Being unpredictable isn't a bad thing as long as the execution is acceptable.
