Douschebag Hall of Fame

I'd like to point out how to respond to a post you disagree with, versus how to be a douschbag. I made the post below in the Bruce Read Fired thread, and got two different responses:

First response to my post:

Wow, so much hate for Banker in this thread. I realize this will be an unpopular thing to say, but we did not *totally* suck on defense this year. I know, I know, the two blowouts. I watched. (

) But despite those two games we finished the year ranked #22 in total defense. (#30 in scoring defense). Sure, that's nothing to write home about. Plenty of room for improvement and all. But you do have to consider that we lost our entire defensive line from last year, including our top four DTs. We played the year with two new starters at DT, one DE who was a walk-on and the other DE who is converted tight end. Even though I'm perplexed and a bit pissed about the two blowout games I was mostly pleased with our defensive performance in the other ten games. I don't think it's time to break out the pitchforks and torches just yet for Banker.

Read on the other hand ... yeah, gimme a pitchfork and torch.
The problem with the stats in total defense and scoring defense is that the stats are helped by 2 things

1) The crappy offenses in the B1G
2) The way Riley's offense slows things down so significantly to specifically keep the ball away from the other team and help out the defense. There are plenty times where I wish Riley and Langsdorf would go uptempo (and not in a 2-minute drill) and they just keep sitting on the ball.
^^This response by ColoradoHusk—I don't agree with what he said but I certainly respect the way he said it. This is what message boards are all about.

Well I guess if you are alright with just "suckin alot" it is all good then
^^This response by marko polo, on the other hand, is nothing more than a douschebag response intended to elicit a reaction.

Nominated for DBHOF: marko polo.

I have hated marko polo from the start. Here is an example of every post of his:

I think Nebraska football will be relevant again someday because of *Insert valid points here*
You're a f'ing idiot for thinking this even though I refuse to prove you wrong.

Thirded.

I think that's actually pretty spot on analysis NUance. Yeah, the defense got their asses handed to them in a couple games, but turnovers and sacks saw a slight uptick this year as well as everything you listed. Who cares if the offense keeps the D fresh and off the field? I think that's a good thing.

The most amazing bit I saw-- just looked it up-- we have halved our turnovers from last year thus far. Last year 27 giveaways, this year 13.

But yeah, he was just being a douche.

Nebraska talks like we have all the money in the world and will pay to win championships. I am still waiting for this to happen. Mike Riley is the 42nd highest paid coach (Bo was 35th). Some of the top coordinators are getting over $1 mil per year nowadays.

I am not saying that Riley can never get it done, or we have to pay someone $10 mil / year but it usually works out for the best when you bust out the wallet. I still feel getting a big name D coordinator would help us out tremendously. I think that all other position coaches go well with this team, and another good asst. would help Riley since he is more of a laid back HC.
Pelini was the 24th highest paid coach in 2014. He was the 14th highest paid coach in 2011.
Not sure where you're getting the 35 number.
I went with his highest paid year and if he coached this season compared to others where he would have been. I should have been more clear on that
That's a meaningless comparison. Coaches get paid more every year. Comparing Pelini's highest pay to what coaches made this year doesn't show anything. You have to look at what he was paid each year compared to other coaches in those years. He was in the top 25 every year I've looked up and top 15 at least one season.
So you don't think spending more money on coaches matters?
This isn't a douschebag nomination but I'm wondering, is there an English word to describe what BIG ERN is doing here?

Here's another example:

Person A: All people think all pudding flavors are delicious

Person B: Some people don't like tapioca

Persok A: SO YOU HATE ALL PUDDING????

I see this type of thing all the time, usually in political discussions.

I think the highlight (or low light I guess) with Creighton Duke for me was when I posted on a weight lifting topic saying I work up to 8 reps on deadlift then increase the weight.

He replied "8 reps on dl? Stop"

And then my favorite:

I'm not sure anyone could highlight their sexism better without coming right out and saying it.

I'm not sure why he was disagreeing with the 8 reps on DL. Nothing wrong with it.

I do agree with his little saying.

Hasty generalization? Here's a large list of logical fallacies: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies

Thanks!

Maybe sort of related to this?

Bulverism (psychogenetic fallacy) inferring why an argument is being used, associating it to some psychological reason, then assuming it is invalid as a result.
