I have not been prior to this year, and thought I would nominate a few people I enjoy reading here.
May I point out your post #161 where even you ultimately pulled your involvement from the process. Maybe it meant something in the past, I do not know, but to give those of us a hard time who voted for 84 in jest, seems, a little overboard. Why are you not asking Zoogs why he nominated him in the first place, because you know, it wasn't the first thing I thought of that morning when I woke up, (nominating 84 for anything), thus, we wouldn't be having this conversation, right?

For example, Basketball isn't my thing, so I rarely if ever go into the Basketball forums out of respect for the people who like it. I don't have thoughts on much about Recruiting so I rarely go there out of respect for recruiting fans. So if you think the Starting Lineup is silly, why jump in?
I'm not sure what's "wow" about that question. It's a pretty obvious question to ask.

Knapp, the rational behind why any of us decide to read or get involved in any thread, could be as much as seeing activity. I suspect that is why HB has the added click links called "recent updates" on the lower right side of the page, to get more people to click on the subjects that are drawing some attention. I like to be worldly
I said wow because it came across as if I had no right to make a simple comment on something so far down the list of important subjects, that shouldn't even cause a ripple in the water, in your tub. To me, this line of thinking is scary! Are HB posters becoming so far removed from reality, that they look upon something as insignificant as this, as being vital to their mental health or fulfillment.

Like I said, its not a big deal, but it was also a way for me to show my appreciation to posters that bring a lot to the board. And I cant speak for anyone else, but I enjoyed getting nominated to those spots. It showed me that what I brought was appreciated by others. But what you just said is the reason why it has become a joke and a lot of people have stopped participating. Now instead of nominating worthy people, we are just nominating posters, that clearly nobody really enjoys, in jest.
I could see him getting a nomination later down the road when people start to run out of ideas, but for head coach on the first day?

Are you suggesting that what Zoogs, I or Moiraine did is comparable to being deceitful with the intent to cause false information to be shared as if it was factual?
Again, 84 was the last thing on my mind when I went into that thread. That question should be directed to the person who initiated the nomination.

This, for some reason, reminded me of one of the most cringe-worthy moments I've ever had. I worked for this rental furniture place as a delivery guy when I was in college. This couple used to rent stuff all the time, and we were constantly going to their trailer. The husband, we'll call him Biff, was this super awkward dude, kinda decent but socially inept. He would try to talk to us all the time and we'd just go about our business. Really goofy dude. So we're at this junk-a$$ trailer carrying a sofa and Biff makes a lame attempt at a joke, really bad stuff. Just dumb.
Nobody laughs, nobody says anything, and it gets awkward. So Biff says, really lamely, "It was just a joke."
At which point his hideous fat gnarly wife, in this horribly crushing tone, says right in front of us, "Your whole life is a joke, Biff."
My partner & I locked eyes and darned near dropped the sofa. There was dead silence until we finished & got out of there.

I'm suggesting there's a time & place for everything, and what you consider deceitful someone else can consider a joke.
Clearly there are limits to what you think is a joke and what you think is "deceitful," so why is it hard to fathom what Rike Miley & I are saying here?
I'm addressing it to you because you're quoting me & responding to me. If Moiraine or zoogs do the same, I'd be having this same conversation with them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rike, I guess I get it, but your voice is just as important as anyone else's. The appreciation that one sees here (IMO) is shown when and if, people are willing to engage you in your conversations and not put you or I on their ignor list. For an example; (and I am not trying to bash on 84), but no one wants to engage with him due to their own reasons, and he is on many peoples ignor list, thus, he Is literally talking to himself. Once again, while I get the original intent of this, I obviously don't share the same enthusiasim towards it as others. Maybe in the past, as Knapp stated earlier, when there were limited spots, this made more sense, but as I see it now just as I see in real life, it looks to have evolved into a participation trophy ceremony.

Jeezus Knapp; you are very intelligent and I am 100% sure you knew my 2nd was in jest. There was no need to deliberate this situation to the extent we are here. I value a nice ribeye dinner at Mahogny with my spouse, you might value eating dinner with your spouse at Blue. Eveyeone puts their own value toward something and by virtue of what you said yourself in post #161, you have devalued it as well. That post was a few prior to my post, that you quoted. So tag, your it. I was not addressing you in my post there, you drew me into this by quoting me first. `\_("~")_/`.

I didn't say *I* devalued it, I said I didn't want to run it anymore because people would start to devalue it.
