All this family talk would be really awkward if it turned out his offer is noncommitable next year
Why would his offer be uncommittable?
It almost assuredly is not. Apparently not high enough on our board.
Doesn't make any sense. Why would we offer him during his sophomore year of high school if it isn't going to be committable? You would think we would take a little more 'wait and see' approach if we're not totally sure of the kids talent and projection, especially for a sophomore.
You would think.

Friendly reminder ALL offers are "reported" offers until the school accepts a NLI. If this is the crux of your argument, remember than no one other than Garrison himself can comment on whether or not the coaches extended one.

Actually offers are only real on August 1st of their senior year. All offers are verbal offers until that date when they actually get it in writing. With the change in recruiting rules, that might move up the date of written offers as well.

It would be good to keep Johnson toward the top of our list. OU and Texas are talking to him and apparently LSU is starting to look at him.

Our top guy is Cain but he is a long shot as of now.

This is true. It's possible that he doesn't actually have an "offer". But it's been pretty widely reported that is staff will extend offers that are not committable.

Right, wasn't directed at you Mav. Just reminding people that school can't comment on any offers, and can choose to accept/decline as they see fit.

This would (kind of) make sense. Not taking a a commitment from him until we see if we get a 2018 RB. Perhaps if we don't we'd take two in 2019 with him being the first then look for a whale.

I hope the class plays out in a way we get this guy. I'm a big fan of Garrison Johnson, I know there are possibly higher rated guys we could land as well, but I think this kid can play.

If this kid is as excited about Nebraska as all his tweets indicate, you'd think maybe we'd look closer. Sometimes commitment and a will to win for the name on the front of the jersey can outweigh talent. Not to say he isn't talented, but would love to have a kid who just cannot wait to get on campus. Especially for as long as this kid will have if it keeps up.
