Douchebag Thread for Politics & Religion Spill Over

Yeah, I totally understand that. And I agree that following politics, or watching other people talk politics, can be aggravating. The only part that frustrates me is using this as a rebuttal to points of policy debate or as an argument re:newsworthiness. It's not a rebuttal.

I guess the only people that frustration can be aimed at are those constantly carrying the torch.
I get this, too, and I don't mind it. I'm also sorry for how politics spills over sometimes. I just ask that we agree anyone's personal exhaustion isn't really a counter-argument.
I agree that it's no counter argument. I think that is exactly where this whole disconnect began. I don't think Redux's comments in the status update were intended as any sort of counter argument. Mine sure weren't. A couple people simply made passing observations and a few others wanted deeper discussion of what Trump said.....and pretty soon we have 3 pages of pissing and moaning and people being labeled Trump bashers or supporters. It's just one of those things that happens when a subject is approached from differing angles. It'll happen again and we'll all survive.

We have page after page in the DBHOF thread of people going after each other based on topics that may not have wide ranging appeal on the board (i.e. politics). If the argument is 'people weren't calling each other douchebags' then we should go ahead and delete or move 90-to-95% of that thread.

Perhaps a politics DBHOF thread is necessary - I can see the tough position this puts you in because politics is a lot more controversial and pervasive than something like recruiting.

However, you make your opinion and distaste for the problem known by calling it political "sh#t" and then moving it to its own thread. From my position, viewing you as a person with authority on the board, your reaction and handling of the situation is disappointing.

Think about the absurdity of the sanctity of a thread called the "Douschebag Hall of Fame."

That thread has been a dumpster fire for ten years, but now we have to clean it up? Because people sympathetic to Trump or Republicans caught feelings? That's the dumbest part about all of this.

Why is his handling of this disappointing? It absolutely was political sh#t. It's not like anyone is trying to hide it or censure discussion. It simply was occurring in an inappropriate place. People throw fits all the time about things being discussed in the wrong forums. Many people have expressed displeasure in seeing political discussion in the DBHOF.

Of course many of the posts in there are not strictly limited to people calling others dbags. Most have a short trail of semi-related discussion. The problem with P&R is that those discussions by their very nature tend to drag on for much longer and cover broader ground. I think it's great that there is now a place for those heated spill over discussions to take place. So, you may be disappointed but others are not.

Do you have a problem with the "X vs Huskerboard" threads? Are they not in the same vein?

That's such a bullsh#t statement.

The people in your statement me, and I'm not a Trump supporter. I'm also not a GOP member.

It was a quick name I made to merge the posts before it was renamed with El Diaco's thread. Good lord...

This is purely an observation, but aren't most of those threads either excerpts from non-Woodshed threads or started by the person who has a problem with poster X? I can't recall, though it may have happened, a breakout thread from the DBHOF. I'm willing to stand corrected.

Regardless, I don't think that changes your handling of the concern or the manner in which the issue was handled. I can understand you being personally irritated by it as you are human, but when you let the emotion spill into an authoritative decision, I think that's a problem. This is the perception I had when you called it political "sh#t."

As the creator of the vast majority of those "X vs Y" threads, I can tell you that most of them came from arguments throughout the forums that were moved to the Shed where such bickering belongs.

It was named that for all of 30 seconds while I was moving threads. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

My face is not stupid, and I don't know how awesome you are because I've yet to take you up on that beer.

SOON........
