It's gotta be a DT that committed. McShane used the X blackshirt X emoji, which represents our D-line. He posted the same thing on Deontre Thomas' twitter last night about signees and recruits buying into the program.

Regardless of who it ends up being, I'm glad the momentum continues. The faster this class fills up, the more pressure on recruits to pull the trigger.

So, Avery, Perkins, Thompson, Carson?

Avery. Others project as OLBs/DEs, and have said they will wait on decisions (either after their season or NSD). I feel like Avery has been a Nebraska lean for awhile. But it's speculation on my part, so take it with a grain of salt.

Agreed, but I think many others are looking at him as a DE, so while you're right he isn't the commit, but if he came here, He very well could end up a DE

Dude, You and I have no clue how to operate a collegiate football team. But, I do know that part of recruiting is making a recruit feel WANTED. Nothing says we want you more than, Hey, we aren't taking a QB in 2018 and you are the only offer we have out for 2019. Enough said.

You just discounted 83.57% of recruiting. Without that a 16, 17, 18 year old kid feeling wanted, loved, flattered....bla bla bla.....you're not going to get too many good recruits.

We need to find a way to fit 20 in this class. The way things are going we will not want to turn any of these youths away.

ADS, for this class to get to 20 we will need 7-8 players to leave the program by next summer and 5 of them will have needed to leave by NSD.

As of right now, we would only *have* to have 2 leave to get to 20. We have 15 open spots and can over-sign by 3.

Now, we may choose to leave Reimers and Conrad (or others) on scholarship which would reduce the number of open spots but I don't see us putting that many walk-ons on scholarship to need 7-8 to leave.

My base number was 12-13. Hadn't realized we were up to 15 open spots? So why wouldnt we utilize those scholarships open on walk ons? The problem is their aren't many SR walk-ons currently to use them on. They should be going to underclassmen walk-ons. That's where it gets hard. Do you give it to them for this year then say no dice next year?

Also remember that most walk-on schollies are for a year at a time.

Tell that to Nick Saban that started a RS freshman at QB in the National Championship and still signed 2 4 star QB's in 2017. This type of flattery will bite teams. Only the best teams know that and sign QB's every year.

Ohio St has 4 QB's ahead of their 2018 5 star QB. Didn't stop them.

Clemson signed a 5 star QB in 2017 and has a commitment from another in 2018

I could list more but you get the point. You don't skip on QB's in any class anymore.

That could also be a reason why so many QB's transfer. Riley is very cautious on how to run the QB room. He handled the Spring competition well and he knows he has 2 very solid young QB's to groom. Also at a lot of those QB's that OSU brings in can also play other position for them to keep them from transferring. I like the way Riley is handling the QB this year and if they dont get the guy they like, then dont bring a guy in just to have a number. Wait til next year and zero in on the guy you want. Also you could sell PT better you have a smaller QB room.

Better to have a stable of QB's in order to handle transfers than to not. It is my personal opinion he is making a big mistake. Maybe I will be proven wrong. But bringing in a QB in 2018 and risk having one transfer is less harmful than not taking one AND missing on the 2019 guy.
