What did we learn-Game 4 Rutgers

I learned the following:

  • Our defense has steadily and measurably improved since the first half at Oregon. It's the only unit we're fielding that's showing increased improvement from game to game.
  • Also, I would be okay with Diaco taking over as interim HC if our BOR wanted to terminate Riley and Langsdorf immediately.
  • Langsdorf is a f*****g moron that continues to force his identity on an offense that is neither well-coached or talented enough to run it.

Riley needs to eschew Langsdorf and take over playcalling with a run-first mentality. It's the only thing we're doing well right now.
  • Tanner Lee should not be our QB. The coaches better have a damn good reason why they're not putting POB in the game (especially when the O-Line is actually playing well, unlike last week)
  • Langsdorf ran the same f*****g running play twice in a row in the 4th quarter when we were driving for a TD (when we had to settle for a FG). Between this and calling Play Action pass plays in the red zone last week, we should fire Langsdorf on principle right now for such stupidity.
  • To drive home the point about how bad Langsdorf and Tanner Lee are, our defense has given up only 17 points in eight quarters; Tanner Lee has given up 21 on his own.

Ultimately, I'm more pissed after this win than I am with the loss, because what we showed today indicates we have the kids to be 4-0 right now and looking optimistically towards Illinois and Wisky--we just have idiots for a head coach and OC.
Lee also set up 3 of Rutgers' points with a god-awful throw off his back foot and into double coverage.

I learned I shouldn't have given up quarterbacking in favor of defense I probs could have played at Neb.  Also Jaimes for being a true freshmen in his first snaps should probably start the rest of the year.  Time to see what POB has to offer.  If he doesn't throw a pick six I consider it an upgrade

I learned that over his coaching staff, especially Langs, can take a crappy team like Rutgers and figure out a way to lose or barely win.

A competent staff would have won by 3-4 TDs, allowing backups to get snaps.

We we are our own worst enemy.

I will admit I was wrong on Ozigbo. He does have a place in the offense with inside zone run plays.

The line played much better today. I think that's more due to Rutgers though. Could have used that physcial run game last week though.

Quality win. How it looks in the context of the season of course, depends on how the rest of the game goes. Is this an inflection point where this team that stumbled out the gate starts putting it together? Or is it a forgettable blip in a season that continues off the rails?

Hoping it's the former. It's good to see these guys do well.
Quality win.....reaching really deep for that one. Don't get me wrong I like wins....but this was more I tripped and slide through horse s#!t on my way across the finish line, then got up and sprayed axe on and went out for a date to Runza with my ex who happens to be my cousin and is gender fluid.

Defense brought more pressure today at key times and looked good doing it.

Scary we score a TD reliably from the red zone.

Not that I learned it this week but Reed is a better safety than Kalu.  There is gonna be a problem when Kalu is healthy and they sit Reed.  Kalu should move back to corner

So I feel like a swipe at people with non-binary gender identification was unnecessary to express your discontent with the state of Nebraska football.

But yeah, if the Huskers do well the rest of the way, this'll be a quality win because it'll be seen as a springboard towards the strong finish. If it's a dumpster fire season, we'll treat this as practically a loss. Either is fair enough. I just prefer the brighter take as long as I can manage it  :B)

It was more of a swipe at Runza...

I learned that like Keller in 2007, Lee won't get benched no matter how badly he plays. It's absolutely baffling.

The defense continues to improve. Starting to attack and gang tackle well.

With as bad as Rutgers is, this game continues to lower my confidence in the coaching staff. We had a lot of injuries, so maybe this was a turning point and the team will get better going forward. But I just can't see us winning with Lee throwing picks.
