In response to #4, Nebraska was a lot more respectable program nationally than it is now; was paying Bo Pelini more at the time than Mark Dantonio was making at Michigan State, and Nebraska had 60 hung on them in a noncompetitive conference championship game that they were favored to win, against 7-5 Wisconsin team that didnt' even win their own division.
Anyway, I'm not even suggesting Mark Dantonio would've come here had that *** Eichorst tried to hire him. I'm only saying that I suggested it 5 years ago & I basically got told how stupid my idea was (not because it was implausible, the people on this board who blasted my idea thought Dantonio would've been a bad hire). So now I'm calling out those same know-it-alls, just felt like letting them know that don't actually know everything. Not saying I do, by any means.
Eichorst was announced as AD on October 4th, but didn't take over until January 1, 2013. You wanted him to fire Pelini, after a 10 win season a division championship and a January 1 bowl game with like a month until signing day on his first day on the job?
Solid plan, dude. Solid.
