Assistants Announced

Benning mentioned “Coach Gill” by name just out of the blue with no context.  That would be quite the shocker for a number of reasons including the fact that his boss endorsed him recently as the one who would lead Liberty into the FBS...

I wouldn't mind Gill. I think most fans would like seeing him back on the sidelines. I'm sure he'd make more here as an OC than he's making at Liberty as a HC. That being said, Walters would be the #1 choice.

(FWIW, I do feel this would be a short term job for Walters at Nebraska, doesn't seem he wants to be a OC that doesn't get to call plays forever)

I don't have a problem with this.  Frost is the brain child behind the offense.  Having Walters here for even one year speeds up the teaching to the players. Walters knows Frost and his system.  Frost wouldn't need to teach the coach and the players.

After a year or two, the players will know the system.  That would make it easier for someone else to come in and be taught the system from Frost.

That wouldn't exactly be the first time a leader at Liberty said something that was false...  :dunno

But yes, having Turner Gill back at DoNU would be better than where he's at currently for a number of reasons.

Don’t shoot the messenger but the name being thrown around is Turner Gill for OC.

Word is Walters is meeting with Huepel today.  Expected to choose to follow Frost here after being passed over for the HC job at UCF.

UCF TE Coach/Recruiting coordinator still has an offer to come here and Frost is pushing him to make a decision.  UCF media guy thinks he might choose to stay so that there is a least one coach to carry over to their new staff.
