***2018 Recruiting***

It will be interesting to see how things play out. It seems like most teams left a few spots open intentionally. I know USC is expecting a big January like they always get.

7 more recruits seems like a lot and that’s assuming Masry, Smith, and Woodyard are signing. Not sure we had much choice given the timeframe, and I have no doubt that our coaches will wow a lot of recruits over the next month, but it could get a little dicey with the numbers.

So the only semi-surprising thing to happen today is not flipping Riley?

Really wish him and fleeks would have waited until February to sign to give the new staff more than a couple of weeks to work them.

Overall not a bad position to be in given how the season went.

So Frost is thinking around 7* more commits that aren't signed or committed yet. Masry and Smith could both come up short academically. Below are the ones we have a chance with that I could think of....Wasn't sure if the ship has sailed on any of them yet - feel free to correct me

Honas

Swinson

Bush

Hawkins

Jean-Baptise

Carson

Thompson

Porter

Mills

Wade

Hall

Crosswell

K. Smith

Crocker

He said 20 and we're at 13 now so we should need seven more I believe.

We currently have 13 commits.  Frost says the number is 20.

I think we're looking for some combination of 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 2 OTs, 2 DLs, 1 LB and 2 DBs.  That's 10 positions for 7 spots - though we could sign 8 more at the moment.  But Mapieu and Smith are question marks academically so those numbers may depend on how they do.  Jurgens may also end up at LB which might explain why we're still looking for TEs and help fill the numbers at LB.

If we have known attrition. Can we fill those spots and add to class? Example say tanner Lee tells frost he will be leaving in spring as grad transfer?
Yes, and NU can technically over sign by 3, but just have to be at 85 for the fall. However, I don’t think Frost will sign a bunch of guys this year just to get the class to the max. The time to go over is in years 2 and 3.

Would assume Moses Bryant will be the 2nd running back of the class. No need to take more unless he does not qualify, but it's looking better I think.

Need some bodies at wide receiver, as we have missed some depth there in recent classes. I would like two more, but it depends on how we do at other spots, and we don't need to overload that spot this early in the Frost era. One of those big-bodied receivers can move to TE.

Offensive Tackle is a must this cycle, you just cannot skip that position.

Linebacker needs a difference maker because a lot of the young guys need seasoning/playing experience. Honas is a big need, but not looking great with Wiscy trying to swoop in and get him.

Corner needs some depth, although it seems one of those three safeties we are recruiting will play corner- most likely Dwilliams or Smith. And we need to get Jones on board as he would be a huge get.
