Because using a "Ban Him" emoticon on @Moiraine just feels wrong.

I'd never heard of the combo either, until about the last year, and I was a Nebraskan for 28 years, born and raised.  I also think Runza's are gross.  It's probably best that I moved out of state b/c it sounds like i just didn't belong.   :lol:

I never heard of cinnamon rolls and chili until I started posting on Huskerboard. I've also never eaten a Runza.

I talked to my mom about chili and cinnamon rolls. She had never heard of it until Runza started doing it a few years ago. Which means neither had her mom.

She obviously didn’t eat cafeteria lunch in Nebraska growing up...

After 42 years of the public school hot lunch program I'm surprised that that menu combination was not used in other states.

It's possible the school in her town of < 400 didn't have cafeteria lunch. It certainly wasn't a part of my cafeteria food.

Edit: Just talked to her again and there was no cafeteria food at her first school and her 2nd school was bigger but it didn't have cafeteria food either. This was in the 60s. I was in school in the 90s. I actually don't remember the school ever serving chili at all but I don't know if it's because they didn't or because I was grossed out at the idea of cafeteria chili and wouldn't try it. I don't remember ever seeing cinnamon rolls either.

Replace the cabbage with cheese and a Runza would be palatable.  Cabbage sucks.  And not like nacho cheese, good cheese like Gouda or Provolone.

you missed out then as the cinnamon rolls were actually one of the best items they served.

Swiss Mushroom Runzas are pretty good.

Honestly, Runzas are probably the worst thing on the menu at Runza.  Good burgers as far as fast food burgers go.

Best lunch item on a school menu?  Crispitos, and it's not even close.  I bought them off people and ate 6 one time.  Best moment of my life.
