Probably because thats what he wanted not because thats what was best for the team? If he did what was best for the team he would probably be an NFL lineman right now.

When you have strong leadership the kids will want to do whats best for team. Thats called culture.

We are probably fortunate that he elected to play DT because after Jared Crick, he was our best one.

Maybe with an elite lineman playing Martinez and Abdullah would have scored enough points we would have won a few more games. Maybe we could have ran against the good teams that always shut us down.

I dont think Steinkuhler impacted wins/losses at DT. I guess this all plays back to the question of why did we have to rely on steinkuhler at all? Could/woulda/shoulda had our pick of the litter at DT- capitalize on the Suh phenomenon.

At the risk of going on a tangent, I think the whole "capitalizing on the success of (enter players name)" thing is just a way for fans continue to have hope.  It's just a myth.  Players just go where they want to go and that's all there is to it.  I don't believe anyone seriously commits because of the success of another player.

I have an example. Rahmir Johnson just said he was swayed by his favorite play De-Anthony Thomas and the tie between him and Scott Frost. He is not the first kid I have heard that named a favorite oregon player and thats why they have interest in Nebraska/Frost.
