Tangent Thread - 2018 Edition

Plus, many lately are demanding I do some research for them, which makes things worse.

That's a very odd interpretation of people expecting you to back up your assertions with evidence.

I was suspended twice for simple espousing mainstream conservative views, with science to back them up.

Yeah, this is a big steaming pile of bulls#!t. I don't know why you were suspended the first time, but I know exactly why you were suspended the second time - it was for calling @knapplc a snowflake. i know because I reported your post (not because you're a conservative or Trump supporter either, I've reported plenty of posts of people I mostly disagree with and like as well), and because I got a PM from a mod thanking me for bringing it to their attention and letting me that you were specifically suspended for that.

Because it broke board rules. That's why you were suspended. It has 0% to do with espousing conservative views and it has 100% to do with a personal attack which is against the board rules. So are you delusional, or are you just lying through your teeth?

I’ve seen people called far worse than “snowflakes” here who weren’t suspended. All “snowflake” means to me is someone who’s easily offended and needs to toughen up. It’s pretty bizarre to suspend someone for calling another poster that. It’s almost like that was just a pretext to silence my unpopular opinions.

It’s also amusingly ironic that reporting me for calling someone a snowflake kind of makes my point for me. People here need to toughen up a bit. It’s fine to call Trump a Nazi, racist, bigot, evil idiot, etc. It’s fine to tag his supporters with those same insults. But tell a liberal he needs to toughen up?? Well that’s where the line is apparently drawn.

#RIDICULOUS

We've gone over this. First of all, I have given him credit for things. I don't recall what they are at the moment, but I have. I've also liked some of his ideas he's stated but most/all did not come to fruition.

That said, it's not at all relevant what % here is defending. It's not even relevant if 0% are defending him. That's more about him than it is about anyone posting here. If someone is a racist, sexist a$$h@!e, no one should be defending their racist, sexist, assholish actions. No bias is required to be against those actions.

Having very few Trump supporters here doesn't mean what you think it does, as has already been stated.

Speaking of "safe spaces, thin-skinned folk," that seems to apply perfectly to all of these droves of scared people who will only PM you with congratulations instead of trying to have conversations with people.

Well, when you remember, you just go ahead and list them. I can’t wait to hear them.

Waiting for Knapp to respond after he was called a liberal.

Ok. When he came out in January 2017 with his list of things he wanted to accomplish right away I was fully in support of several of them, e.g. term limits for congress. Then within a month he dropped most of the list including term limits.

You can actually go back and read people’s posts instead of making inaccurate assumptions. I’m not gonna go look for everything Trump has done that I’ve supported. His good ideas are few and far between after all. I definitely haven’t disliked an idea/statement/policy because it was Trump’s though.

Why are you making me agree with Ric Flair?

I have most definitely called posters snowflakes, or worse, without receiving a single reprimand, much less a suspension.

And if there are conservatives supporting Ric in private, they should be a little less snow-flaky themselves and join the debate.

Eh, regardless of what he was told, I’m assuming his suspensions were a culmination of many things rather than one incident.

It's almost like that's not all that means to you, as it's entirely apparent that you used it as a pejorative to insult, instead of constructively saying, "Hey man, toughen up!", which wouldn't have drawn a suspension.

Two things. Number one, me reporting you for breaking board rules has nothing to do with not being tough. I have no negative reaction to that, and neither did knapp, or probably anybody else. There's no offense being taken, there's no hurt being felt or anything like that. It's everything to do with agreed upon rules of a community. You want to have tough borders for America, but you want to be exempt from the established rules of Huskerboard? Number two, Trump isn't on this messageboard, and referring to a label or a group of people isn't a personal attack, because it's not against a person. You, as a conservative, should be the first in here to acknowledge and appreciate the differences between individual/specific contexts and group/general ones.

Careful...you can get banned for using that kind of language here...but apparently only if you support Trump and the moderators think you’re a big meanie.

Way to change your tune completely. I suppose it’s theoretically possible that you could have less of an idea what you’re talking about, but I’m not sure how.

The bolded is an example of a personal attack, FYI.

Regardless of what you were told, if some new person came to the forum and called someone a snowflake and hadn’t broken several rules already they likely wouldn’t get suspended like you were (twice). I do know what I’m talking about here because I’ve seen it.

I also didn’t change my tune one bit. I said you lied about why you were suspended which is still the case. Your banning had zilch to do with your conservative views or your “science” (which was your false claim). If I had to guess I’d say at least half of the mods are conservative and if what you’re claiming is true (it’s not) they wouldn’t allow it.

I’m amused that you’re trying to justify this nonsense by reading meaning into my use of the term “snowflake.” I think the whole quote was “Grow up Snowflake.” For that, I was banned for 45 days. It was completely idiotic.

But that’s how liberalism works. You’re all about speech codes, safe spaces, and other protections from reality. So when I came in here and remind you that half of the country disagrees with you, the gnashing of teeth, rending of garments, and attempts to find some pretext to ban me started. After all...if only the big Trump supporting meanie had to go away, this place would be a safe space again.

Your claimed rationale for why I was suspended has changed repeatedly. You’re as credible on the subject as Urban Meyer at this point.

The bolded statement is an attack on your statement and your opinion, not on you personally. I’m saying your opinion is uninformed and wrong. Holy crap....GROW UP.

Please. Whether the 'you' you're referring to is Huskerboard, or me personally, you're wrong on either count. You give yourself far, far, too much credit.

No, in actuality I give myself far too little credit. Coming here night after night to defend the President and single-handedly best you and the other 10 or so Rachel Maddow groupies every night is no small feat. Simply teaching you guys how to do a google search, so you can read up and educate yourselves has been a full-time job lately.
