Martinez it is

During the whole QB evaluation process, I wonder if the question was asked of each QB: "how will you react if you are not named the starter?" And I wonder if Gebbia (and AM for that matter) would have been honest with their answer.

No way in hell. Just like when my company didn’t pay me enough (among other issues), I was applying for jobs behind my boss’s back and I told her I was happy where I was.

People are saying crazy things right now, like Frost would’ve/should’ve given Gebbia the job to prevent him from leaving.

Here’s my take. If Frost knew Gebbia would leave immediately this season if not given the job he would have picked Martinez weeks ago. I’m sure he considered Gebbia would leave after the season but probably didn’t expect him to leave on game week this season.

One of the concerns out of spring was Martinez not having as much zip on the ball as expected, but according to Mario this morning that was just a technique issue and has been fixed.

Heard him say that as well.

I loved his answer to the question of "who might be your fourth QB option":

"Well, let's see - We have Martinez. We've got Bunch. And we've got Masker. So after that, do you want to go in?"

LOL

This kid is amazing. I hope he does well for him not just for Nebraska.

On his mom dying when he was 10:

"There's always someone out there who has a worse situation than you. So there was no reason to sit there and complain. I had to get back up and fight. I had to be there for my dad. I had to be there for the rest of my family, for my grandma."

I have no doubts, health willing. He's a winner.

He may not yet know all there is to playing quarterback, but he already knows what it means to be a quarterback. He's a take charge, take responsibility kind of guy. He knows he gets his by getting it for others. That's a great attitude to have, and attitude is often what is the difference between great athletes and great players.

My opinion of him needs ratchet straps to keep in check because his ceiling is so high.
