The Republican Utopia

Bannon said on his way out of the WH that he does not support or promote KKK or other racists groups, and the the left has tried to lump together views on nationalism/America First with Alt-right messaging focused on KKK/Racism.  What I recall Bannon pushed at Breitbart was a lot of advancement for minorities and gays and I would argue that his views are more socially moderate than that of Conservatives who were affiliated with Bush Republicans.

LOL...yeah....and while at Breitbart, he self proclaimed himself a leader of the alt right...which is well known for being extremely racist.  Even though he may have proclaimed that while leaving the WH...he still is pushing issues around the world that make the arian nation proud.

I will likely not be voting, but if I was or if I do, I don't vote 'Republican' or 'Democrat' - I vote for a person. Your phrasing of the question is revealing of the exact problem. There are people that identify with the Republican party I would gladly vote for. There are people that identify with the Democratic party I would gladly vote for. There are independents, libertarians, democratic socialists that I would vote for. But I would never vote for any of them solely because they represent my 'team'. Such basic ideas are beneath all of us.

It's really not that hard unless you have a lot of Independents in your district.  I asked about a specific race for US House, not the entire ticket you will be voting for.

Just curious if you are Independent did you vote for Jill Stein or Gary Johnson in 2016?

You know that independent means that you aren't affiliated with a party, not that you have to vote against the two major parties, right?

Thanks for providing those. I think we can all agree that such calls for violence are hateful and have no place in a modern society.

I agree and that is why I saw there are fringe elements on both sides where many Dems have attended rallies with BLM and promoted BLM as an organization.  This group is as disgusting as the KKK is, yet many in the media did not condemn BLM when it was at its peak in the Obama years.

Let's not get crazy. You have videos of five dozen people calling for the shooting of cops, and a guy (in Dallas) who apparently followed up on that.

You're comparing that to a group that terrorized the American South for more than a century with lynchings, beatings, burnings and mayhem. These are not equivalent things.

Hate is hate no matter the history.  I don't think we need to argue over whether one is worse than the other.  We had a string of cop killings during Obama's 2nd term when BLM was most active.

Ummm....The KKKs influence on our society over the last 100 years is mind blowingly higher than anything the BLM has done.

I condemn both and condemn any politician that panders to either group.  You, in turn....decide to support one who panders to one of these groups.

And, we had a sharp rise in violence against minorities right after Trump was elected.  He also promoted support for police officers who victimized black communities....and demonized people who non-violently protested against that.

Do you condemn Trump?

Umm....I don't support Obama or any of the Dems that have openly promoted Black Lives Matter.  The list of Dems who have supported BLM is long.  Please tell me a time when Trump only said he supported the KKK.  Give me the link or a video where that was said.

He doesn't have to come right out and say it.  He has pushed for just about every effort that makes them so proud....while doing nothing to condemn the KKK or Neo Nazis while they are marching in our streets.

In fact, while we have these groups proudly marching in our streets (with good people on both sides)....and then finally made a short statement....but nothing else...... he chooses to loudly condemn over and over and over again.... black people who are non-violently protesting.

So....on one hand, he chooses not to condemn one side while condemning the other....hmmmm....

Why do you think he never mentions his condemnation of these groups who support him so heavily at his rallies....while condemning peaceful black protesters?

Trump Defends White-Nationalist Protesters: 'Some Very Fine People on Both Sides'

President Trump defended the white nationalists who protested in Charlottesville on Tuesday, saying they included “some very fine people,” while expressing sympathy for their demonstration against the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. It was a strikingly different message from the prepared statement he had delivered on Monday, and a reversion to his initial response over the weekend.

The “Unite the Right” rally that sparked the violence in Charlottesville featured several leading names in the white-nationalist alt-right movement, and also attracted people displaying Nazi symbols. As they walked down the street, the white-nationalist protesters chanted “blood and soil,” the English translation of a Nazi slogan. One of the men seen marching with the fascist group American Vanguard, James A. Fields, is charged with deliberately ramming a car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing 32-year-old counter-protester Heather Heyer.
