Mo Washington Spill-Over Thread

Lots of people saying lots of dumb things in the Mo Washington topic.

Nominate the guy who suggests UNL was stonewalling/covering up and could get in trouble with the NCAA over it.

How does this work in real life? If I’m accused of punching a stranger and it gets reported and the police know my contact information, is my employer supposed to force me to answer questions about it?

My non-lawyer opinion: no, but they could take action in terms of your employment depending on your case and if/how you cooperate.

Yes. I mentioned in the topic my impression is that there could be PR problems (due to letting him play), but not legal or NCAA problems.

Nominate the f#&%ing morons who think sexual assault has to look like physical force and by that dumbass logic the girl in the threesome can’t have been raped.

There are lots of reasons to doubt her. For one, no parent wants their 15 year old daughter to have been involved in a threesome. She might be protecting her own skin.

But the argument overall that it can’t be rape because people viewing it thought it looked consensual is just motherf#&%ing ignorant.

It’s like blackmail, threats, and coercian don’t exist to them.

How are people commenting on the video? Nobody has seen this video, right?

People are arguing (and I agree) that it appears consensual due to how it was dealt with at school. The police were involved when it came to the boy who distributed it and the admin expelled all 3 of them (including the girl). If it was clear that it was an assault those things seem unlikely.

A handful of morons are then concluding that it can’t possibly have been assault because it doesn’t “look” like it.

I’ll repeat again, there are reasons to doubt her. But there is stupidity or at the very least ignorance involved in saying that because a woman looks like she likes it, or looks indifferent, that it can’t be rape. We don’t know what led up to it. We don’t know whether there was coercian, blackmail, threats, etc. All of those could make it sexual assault.

Redux just above my comment mentioned body language, which I took to mean he was referring to the body language in the video (and if that's wrong, sorry, Redux), and Dewiz in a now-deleted comment described the act.  That's what I'm talking about.

One of the articles describes the 10 sec clip Washington sent. She was giving one of them a blow job while the other jerked off and filmed.

Nah that's what I meant, but it was a lame joke.

People are basing their opinion of it being consensual over the reviews they are hearing 2nd and 3rd hand and what those people think they saw.  It's not an accurate way of depicting the situation by any means.  Her looking like it's not rape merely strengthens the argument she is falsifying the assault, it doesn't rule it out at all.

....true story to follow, it is fairly graphic though and one I won't subject anyone to if they don't want to read it.

12 years or more ago me and a buddy met up on a dirt road with a gal and her friend.  Let's call her a bit loose with the fellas.  Sparing the details up until this point, she ends up a couple feet away from me on her knees going down on my buddy.  He says to her, "don't leave him out".  She didn't.  And I'm not making this up, she says in the middle of this, "I wish we had a video camera".

So, believe me when I say, I have personal reason to doubt the girls claims in the Mo case.  They obviously aren't the same circumstances.  But had there been a camera that night there would be a video out there somewhere of it, and I'm positive it could have gotten spun that we took advantage of her, which we DEFINITELY did not.  If anything she used us.

I don’t know that I’d say it strengthens the argument it’s not consensual, but it does nothing to refute the argument. And if the video doesn’t show an obvious assault situation where physical force is used, the claim will get nowhere legally.
