Yep,  I feel the same pain.  I hope it doesn't also include the pain of standing in long medical lines waiting for my old age medical treatment when I get to that point.

It's my fear that the Red Scare and the Cold War means people won't understand or even consider alternatives to the current system, so instead of finding ways to adapt we instead fracture.

 
I'll tell you what: I'm sick as hell of the failings and flaws we've allowed our capitalist system to accrue slowly over time.

I'm not aching for a full-blown socialist takeover, but if some socialist ideas and concepts can be used to make our brand of capitalism a more fair one, I welcome them.

I'd just like for us to be able to learn about a lot of ideologies and concepts and then apply which ones fit where into our economy. Does anyone really care if it's called capitalism, socialism, feudalism, etc.? (Before someone loses their mind, I'm thinking of the military as being based on feudalism.) I'm much more concerned about democracy and liberty than which economic ideology is dominant.

The rest of the developed world does this and nearly all of the policies the Dems are lobbying for have been proven effective with our contemporaries.
