Maurice Washington Faces Charges

Don't get crazy on me.  I just said that they had to add a felony to extradite.  Neither of us knows the whole truth.
I think it's important to clarify that this is "child porn" by the letter of the law and that's the primary reason it's listed. Perhaps the felony charge aids in extradition, but it would likely not have been added for that explicit purpose.

I've mentioned this before in this thread, but most prosecutors will charge as many crimes as possible knowing full well that many of them may not stick or might get plead down. It's a lot like bartering. Both parties shoot their shot and then you find some amicable settling point.

I realize that, but it was implies that I thought it was a fake charge.  A felony is serious, even though I think its a reach.  But I'm not an attorney or a judge.

It will be hard to beat this rap when it’s the people of the state of California vs. Mo.  Doesn’t seem fair.

That's how all criminal prosecutions are labeled. It's whatever entity has jurisdiction over the law, enforcing the law. It's no different than a citizen at a traffic stop - it's them vs. the Police. That's not just fair, it's the best way to enforce laws.

I would have thought the people of California, who constantly complain about an incarnation crisis, would not look to destroy a long man's life over a text.  What he did was gross, but this is such an overreach.

A literal and factually based assessment is not an overreach. If he did what is alleged to have done, then that is truly a felony per the law itself. Then you take into account context, and he will likely plead to probation/diversion/misdemeanor/something minor and not serious. There's no overreach anywhere.

Also, what exactly is an incarnation crisis? Too many deities embodying humans in California?

Either your stupid humor detector is malfunctioning or you felt clarification was  necessary before someone started a “Nebraskans against California” group.

Speculation is the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence.

Allegation is a claim or assertion that someone has done something illegal or wrong, typically one made without proof.
