-A Trump avatar picture is what cause all this. A.....avatar. I mean holy s#!t man. That's a new level of sensitivity around here I've never seen. Offended shmended, it's pretty insane when you think about it.
-Okay, I'll compare you to Hitler. You're white, male and probably have a little German in you no? So it works right? How was that useful?
-You conveniently left out the multiple times I said inadvertently, weird...
-Of course they did, it's called damage control. And most people want to be fair, most people want this to be a good environment. But while they were saying "fair is fair" it came long after the fact that nobody complained or reported their avatars because nobody cared or got offended at them, their context or the fact they technically broke the rule of no P&R outside the forum. Why can't we be honest about this? This is a pretty anti Trump crowd that runs the P&R around here, so a Pro Trump avatar pops up and like a day and a half later a new rule is in place. Again, why can't we be honest? Rules are made for reasons. But the instances that put them into motion were specific people making noise. A "bad kid" as you put it made a few people annoyed so now the class can't have gum.

No, one person thinks they are being a clever troll, but their trolling is about as clever as a wet fart. And their constant bulls#!t is being called out. One dumbass is ruining it for everyone else. Did anyone complain about the member with 45 in their name that is a glaringly obvious political statement? No, because they generally keep their discussion and politically comments where it belongs, but Dewiz can never seem to help himself.

Actually I think you're the one that caused all this! Here's what happened - someone mentioned that Dewiz (being the douche he is), changed his avatar. Knapp mentioned that he mentioned it to a mod. Enhance said they were talking about it and asked if NM's avatar was also not appropriate. At least three people agreed it wasn't. Then a dozen plus posts or so of nothing related at all, no outrage, no offense or anything, until you came in talking about people being offended.
Then we started talking about it again and it escalated higher and higher. So personally I blame you for stoking the flames of non-existent outrage!
Hitler and I are alike in those ways you are correct. If you were trying to make a point with that comparison, it would have been a useful comparison.
First, people generally don't complain or get offended at things that are not offensive. That's not hard to understand. Second, I think the reason the rule was made was because Dewiz uses s#!t like that as a form of trolling and being a petty immature little s#!thead. It's not that people are actually offended by a picture of Trump. I don't think anyone is. People are sick of Dewiz' sophomoric bulls#!t, and called him on it. The reason behind why Dewiz did that is not the same as the reason behind NM's long standing anti hatred/bigotry/etc. avatar, and thus, the reason for the rule was to stop people like Dewiz from doing Dewiz-like stupid things.
It's not that he's a Trump supporter. It's because he's a Troll d******d Trump Supporter.

Look at the pattern of behavior. Dewiz has been skirting the rules trying to get a reaction. Some of his status updates recently:
"And the winning continues...what a day!!!"
"Boy Disney sure held their ground lol. $$$ over morals y’all"
"Got $3,200 more in my taxes compared to last year. This is one happy camper"
That didn't work so he changed the profile pic and got a reaction.
And just to drive the point home, look what he changed the avatar to: just the number 45 on a jersey. And he claims it's because Joel Mackovicka is his favorite player - even though he cropped the image to just the number. Not a great play by JM. Not a picture of JM. Doesn't even include JM's head in the avatar.

It's because he's a troll dude! There's an obvious body of work to anyone who has payed attention. He made a troll status update over the weekend but no one took the bait. He shows up in P&R for the first time in months to make his usual s#!t post then ghost, and after that he changes his avatar. Most people probably wouldn't have given two s#!t if there wasn't a history there.

It makes me laugh a bit that I and other mods (@Mavric and @Enhance) are providing you the reasoning behind our decision, and yet, you take it upon yourself to fabricate alternative reasons. It might just be for fun, so go for it if true. But, if you would like more of a play-by-play to the actual conversation here goes:-A report comes in about Dewiz's profile avatar.
-Mods initially determine it not an issue.
-The discussion then becomes about if any content within posts and updates should contain political messaging, which would include avatars, signatures, etc.
-The conversation then focuses on such content used in these domains by reviewing individual examples from other members.
-The decision here is that politically-based content in these areas does violate our policy.
-Mods modify the enforcement of our longstanding policy on "no PR outside of the PR forum" and contact members in violation.
And, here we are. So, the initial complaint about Dewiz's profile avatar was struck down. It was not until we approached the conversation more generally that change to the policy enforcement was determined. I know you (and other members) are not privy to mod conversations, so speculation and conjecture seems reasonable. But, I am doing you (and everyone else) a favor and providing the facts. It is easy to be transparent here because imo this decision was the correct one and made from an impartial basis.

JFC guys - drop it already. Play by the rules. The reason nobody complained about my avatar for 2+ years is that I'm not (typically) an a$$hole, and I don't attempt to instigate every chance I get. I'm also an adult, that wants to be here, so when asked politely I changed it and moved on. I didn't fight the mod that reached out to me, I didn't come here and post or ask one of my friends to defend me for 8+ hours. It's not hard.
If you believe strongly in something or someone go into the threads and discuss. If you don't don't. But to play a passive aggressive little biatch and try to inflame others thru status updates and avatars is pretty pathetic.
The person that has instigated this entire topic has been on ignore for me since I joined the board. He's is not kind, respectable and well intentioned and that was apparent from the start regardless of the topic. I think the person is cruel and miserable. I don't want to interact with them, I don't want to know what they're doing and their thoughts and opinions mean nothing to me. The best thing you can do with these people seeking attention for all the wrong reasons is to not give them what they want. They aren't worth the time and certainly the grief they create. Don't give them the pleasure of being in the spotlight.
There are more good people here than bad. I choose to focus and interact with them (congrats to most of you). Let's move on already and talk about whether MNBigRedNorth is RicFlair.

Okay, you know this isn't true. Please don't try to spin this like I'm stirring up s#!t for entertainment purpose. I f#&%ing hate when people do that just to try and discredit someone.
As to the rest, I appreciate the transparency. My point is, and always was, it wasn't an issue when others had similar things as an avatar because no complaints. Even if the initial decision was not an issue, it changed quickly. I assume the discussion at hand about said picture in the shed was a factor no?
I think the thing people don't really seem to understand about me is that I like to see people get a fair shake, regardless of who they are.

edit: and to be fair I think it was more tasteful than others - it was more a motto with two words that people might have taken offense to.

If I missed the intention of your posts, that is my bad. I actually appreciate your engagement. This has allowed me an opportunity to provide more clarity to everyone on our internal decision-making process.
The public discussion in the Shed is for our board members, but really is a non-factor in mod decisions. We appreciate the feedback from our members, but ultimately, decisions about board policies and enforcement of said policies are determined by and at the discretion of the admins and mods.
