Maurice Washington Faces Charges

The bolded added for what it’s worth, should make it a big deal to a coach and teammates.

I honestly don’t think your yell at him approach works here either.  Mo seems to be pretty fragile mentally as proven by quitting the team.  He probably would need the coddling approach.

As great as a talent as he is/was, it is time to cut the cord.  Props to him if he stuck with his classes and got good grades this last semester.  He better have if he does leave(own accord or not) and wants to enter the transfer portal.

I guess we will see!

I think there was a lot more than that in regards to being late to team meetings, not going to the training table and stuff along those lines that frost doesn’t tolerate.

Also heard he whipped his d1@k out in front of a bunch of girls on the volleyball team and that was the last straw/“ but that may be a B.S. rumor.
I sort of feel like that might have made a lot more noise...

Kid seems like a lost soul. Maybe the juco route would be a better option. Can guys go backward?
Many D1 guys fall down to the JuCo ranks after stupid stuff. It happens all the time. I would recommend watching Last Chance U to see how many actually go that route after failing in D1. He could go this route and many would take him but I am not sure if that is an environment he would thrive in.

Pretty sure this is what happened to Cam Newton at FU after he decided to be an idiot with a laptop.

And, ya know, Mills at Ga Tech. Not sure why he left, though.

Really look at this...

1.  Worked his a$$ off to get here and did it

2.  Smoked/had weed (literally no one cares)

3.  Had a pic/video of an old GF that was naked or making love

4.  Was mad/upset that he didn't get the ball more

Assuming that is everything...well...it is not really a big deal.  (All you SJW's relax on the child porn stuff, we all know that is not what it really is)

Every guy on the team that is not starting and/or getting TONS of play is mad (that is how it works)

They all smoke weed/drink (All you stat geeks, please realize I know that not ALL OF THEM smoke and drink)

I think you sit him down and you yell at him, kids like him respond to that, you say "You are a moron, you know that, right?" and he will agree, and then you ask "Do you want to be here, for real, do you want to be part of this or do you think you would be better leaving" he will be honest...if he says "yes" you say "Tell me what boundaries you need..." and he will say "I don't know"

Then you say..."Here is what I propose..." and you lay it out.
Didn't he have extra work to do because he was kicked out of multiple schools? Even if not child porn he still used a sexually explicit video of a minor to shame her after being told like a year before to delete the video. Lets not pretend this is a good person because he plays for Nebraska.

I’m not trying to justify what he did but once again, let’s not sit here and pretend this was some creepy old man with a video of a minor.  He was ONE year older than her.  Pretty much no teenager is going to be thinking that a video of a girl ONE year younger than them is going to be child pornography

No doubt. I'm sure every high school kid today has something on their phone that could get them charged by this law which i think definitely needs to be revised. The part i have a problem with is he was told to delete the video, didn't and then used it to shame someone.

For the record I'm not 100% against him having a path back to being on the team. Do i think he's a pos sure but he's not the devil and i dont think being a good person should be a prerequisite to playing college sports. I honestly dont believe if he played for iowa people would have the same view of him.

We actually discuss this topic (the child porn) in one of my classes.  It is interesting to hear HS students opinions on it.

I get your second point, about being told to delete it but we are all told things all the time that we don't follow because we are either morons or don't think it is a big deal.  Hell, I still have morons friends that won't wear a seatbelt because they are worried they will be driving on a bridge and one side will be all water and the other side will be all fire and if they roll off to either side their seatbelt might get stuck and they will die.

I also think you are right about how he would be viewed if he played for another team...a lot of us would totally look at it differently.  I would not, because I don't think he did all that much to be worried about but there would be plenty of Husker fans that would be ripping on him and the school he was at.

I'm always for people getting the opportunity to right wrongs of the past and better themselves.  Kudos to Scott for trying.  I think this also sends a strong message to current and future players that he won't give up on an individual easily.  I have a college age son who has made mistakes - not to this level but punishable none the less.  I think most college kids do, especially their first year there.  My son was given a second chance and is about to graduate near the top of his class.  I'm very grateful that he was given the opportunity to show that he could change for the better.  I genuinely hope MW does the same.

Down playing that one quite a bit...  pretty sure it wasn't the possession of the video as much as it was the sending part...

Finally, a rational and thoughtful opinion on this situation.  Thank you!
