I had hoped that he would be returning under a different user name, but alas, that's impractical now.
Most of the reaction to him returning seems to be positive and/or neutral. Quite a few people have expressed gratitude for evaluating this situation and allowing EZ-E back. A few appear to be concerned or critical.
In my opinion, the best message to send is a uniform one. I think we've done a good job in the past of explaining that board moderation is done on a case-by-case basis. We should not go into detail about why EZ-E was allowed back or what he did to be allowed back, primarily because I don't want a bunch of previously banned members sending us heartfelt apologies asking to be allowed back in. (I'm not even convinced EZ-E's was genuine.) If we lay out a road map for it then there's a chance we'll get more of it, and to
@Thanks_Tom RR's point, these folks were banned for very good reasons.
I'm inclined to tell folks that this was a special circumstances and is no way indicative of future decisions.
