Anyone else find the title "What God Wishes Believers Knew About Jesus' New Covenant" ironic?

I found it ironic that he was bemoaning organized religion doing the very thing he did in his first and/or second posts. I made one comment about it on page 5+/-, and he agreed with me  That whole thread should be titled irony.

A little bit of a soap box rant here, but I'm a little disgusted by the number of people trying to use their social media accounts as some kind of snobbish tool for being self righteous and avoiding difficult conversations.

Case in point, this is a paraphrased Facebook post from a former coworker of mine:

- There are no such things as good cops; there are only bad cops and cops who don't do anything about the bad cops

- All precincts should be burnt to the ground and something "useful" should be built on top

If you disagree, please go ahead and quietly unfriend me because this is not an argument you will win

I'm seeing things like the bolded stuff everywhere. It's like some sort of passive aggressive attempt at flaunting one's self-importance. Not only is it a ridiculous line to draw in the sand, but how does asking someone to unfriend you do anything other than limit your circle of perspectives?

This is mostly rhetorical but had to get it off my chest somewhere. There are certain things in this world that are objectively worth condemning i.e. racism, discrimination, sexual assault, etc. But I didn't realize it was time to start selectively annihilating social circles based on the nuances within those conversations.

For what it's worth, this person is someone who would easily fall into a leftist extremist bubble. It's not even really worth discussing but he's not the only person leveraging their social accounts in this way which is the primary reason I brought it up.

Sounds to me like a very good opportunity to unfriend the dbag. Like them being your Facebook friend (or vice versa) is something special    It might be a good natural selection tool to alienate idiots. About two more comments like that and they shouldn’t have any friends left.

I actually was wondering if political posts are allowed in status updates again.

It could be argued that CN's and cham's posts aren't political, but there have been status updates much less political that have been deleted in the past, so that's why I was wondering. I'm fine with them being left up if so but I'd like to know if I could post one if I ever wanted to.

I wondered the same thing.

I'm guessing one of three things:

1) With the change in ownership the ban on political status updates was something that kind of just went away like the minimum post limit to access P&R.

2) Mods are overworked and stressed out like everyone else right now and got lazy cracking down on them.

3) Some subset of mods agree with their thoughts and allowed it to stay up.

It has been discussed.  Where we are at the moment is it's pretty hard to get away from things with a political aspect right now.  So maybe we'll look the other way for a week or two while things are really crazy.

As long as they don't get out of hand and turn into a huge fight in the replies.

Not sure if that is right or wrong.  But things are just crazy right now.
