I don't think I've seen a poster here say otherwise yet.

I'll say otherwise. Having students on campus is hugely different than having a huge body of students travel from your town to another town for football. They're worried about players that don't test positive but who are infections causing outbreaks in other towns. They infect someone from another team - boom! Outbreak.

This is all risk management, and is entirely caused by people who won't wear masks, won't wash their hands, and won't practice safe social distancing.

We've known for months that these three things will drastically ramp down infection rates. Instead, we've got MUH RUGHTSSSUH people b!^@hing about the CDC and WHO and getting their medical info from grandma's Facebook posts and here we are.

Other countries have sports. We don't.

Everyone b!^@hing about our experts can think real long and hard about why that is.

And wear your stupid mask or we're not going to have basketball, either. Dorks.

Funny thing about your post?  It's not the "lock down crowd" that caused this.  It's the "I DEMAND A HAIR CUT" crowd...or "IT'S AGAINST MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS" crowd.

THAT'S why we are where we are.

If everyone would have listened from the beginning to the actual experts, we would be in a much better place right now.
This argument is getting old. People did what they were allowed to do. People went to beaches that were open. Masks were not mandated so we’re not worn.

Blame the president, blame the states doesn’t matter to me, but for crying out allowed stop blaming the people.  And get off FB. You’re being skewed by some ranting posters.

BS.

Way too many people in this country (including the person being nice at the top) has thought all along that his is a hoax and it's all going to go away by Easter and this is just a made up liberal conspiracy to...bla bla bla bla....

Sorry to get political here, but that's where this lies.  This entire pandemic is NOT a hoax but one side has continually said it is and cried and whined about their constitutional rights.  They've made up conspiracy theories like Fauci created the virus...etc.

THAT is where the blame lies along with the followers that feed right into it.

Until Americans pull their heads out of their asses and actually listen to science and stop politicizing everything...this is the type of thing we are going to get.

I know this is either going to get moved or I'm going to get a warning....but blaming who you are blaming is just flat out wrong.  period.  Look at other countries around the world that don't have their collective heads stuck up their collective backsides as far as we do.  That should prove the correct answer.
What about the blame at the state level? Things that usually matter are local. Always Trump this and that. Of course he didn't do a great job, but these clowns who control the state's decisions have been all over the place.

LOL what?? More safe to pack students who aren't tested or monitored 5x a week for 8 hours a day? That is completely foolish.

The team travels with the TEAM - not public transit. They are playin teams with the same protocols in place. No fans. Where is the spread gonna happen?

You don’t know this.

quit blaming everyone for everything.

lack of leadership, not the people.

The TEAM PLAYS ANOTHER TEAM. Infects that team. That team then spreads to the community. Who's liable in that situation?

That's why they're not playing.

I'm not telling you that's a good reason not to play.  I'm telling you that's the reason they used.

FYI...I unfollow anyone on Facebook that talks politics for this exact reason and I spend an extremely small amount of time there.

Really???  So....the people that rant and rave about how horrible it is and the protests that we saw in the streets about shut downs.  The loony tunes that stormed the Michigan state house with their big bag guns aren't part of the problem?

How about when I fly and I see certain people absolutely refusing to wear their masks or even wear them properly?  How about...as was mentioned....people who had large gatherings political rallies and the people who attended them because THEY aren't going to be told what to do?

How about all the people who constantly have said...."I'm not going to change what I do because you're scared of the flu"?

If you haven't known there are a ton of those people in the US...your head is in the sand.

I agree.  But, then you have a governor who tried like in Michigan and what happens?  Some idiots decide to storm the state house with their guns to threaten the politicians.

I can blame whoever I want and you can't stop me.

I'm blaming @BigRedBuster now. Here I am! I'm blaming him! What are you going to do about it? Huh?
I'm going to fart in your general direction if you do.

Other countries have managed to even have international play - the UEFA Champions League finished up their incomplete round of 16 games with having teams travel out of their country to play.  They are going to stay in a bubble for the final rounds, but the fact that they successfully did this shows that mitigation methods were successful enough.

And yes, the Big Ten (and now perhaps Pac 12) are being very risk adverse, probably heavily due to liability concerns, but I'm not sure we can say they are more risk adverse than European countries.  Many on this board probably feel that Europe is dominated by "communistic socialist over litigious wimps" (except of course Russia), however even if true, they followed their mitigations and are having success.  They are seeing some raise in counts in different areas, but they seem to be doing a good job of stamping it down by region when there is a flareup.  A big part of that has been compliance on part of their citizens.  Has it been perfect compliance? Of course not.  But it seems they do have better compliance, as well as more dedication from the governments/law enforcement to enforce compliance as well.

How many people have actually been fined for non-compliance despite many areas having fines listed?  I have not heard of many cases. Had the various US authorities (state/local working in coordination with the feds) been more aggressive, they probably could have generated enough in fines to cover any tax shortfalls due to business shutdown :)
