I’ve stated many times,  that not all or even most of the main stream media is fake

whst I clearly stated was some of it was, so you have to question it all. One of the main culprits is what they decide to cover and not cover, it’s laughable how much or little attention they pay to things based on their narrative.

I’m no trump fan, I think he’s an egotistical blowhard that isn’t very wise about how he conducts himself. However the vile hatred he is shown, the piling on and never giving him credit for anything is just too much. I despise the guy, but seriously considering voting  for him out of spite this time because of the bias.

Why do Trump fans need to lie about being Trump fans?

You're going to vote for the worst president this country has ever seen because your panties are in a twist over the media?

Puuuuhhhlleease!  You're voting for Trump because you're OK with what he is and what he represents for another four years. Stop lying.

What's equally laughable is how the general public often prefers to shed 100% responsibility for what type of news they consume and how they consume it.

I'm sure you've heard of "if it bleeds, it leads?" It's not just posturing. Analytics have completely changed the media landscape. You, the consumer, play a vital role in what type of content is covered and how it is covered. It's a symbiotic relationship. Why do Fox and CNN stay in business, all while being ridiculed for "bias?" Because people keep tuning in and supporting them even when they do whacked out s#!t.

The media has a responsibility to present fair, objective and germane news, but they also have to balance that with content that their audience is interested in consuming. No clicks/views = no money. Content that doesn't lead to paying subscribers = no money. No money and the reporting entities go out of business.

The current state of the media landscape is the result of years of symbiosis between audience and reporting entity. It's high time more people acknowledge this and stop deflecting all the blame.

Good stuff. I'll add that media is heavily influenced by the corporations advertising with them as well.

This is a good point. The media will put out what sells, but there's a steering component to some of their product as well, and that comes from corporations and political influence.

It's a big equation, and the bigger the entity, the more factors are involved in what gets produced.

I definitely think there's something to that although, like @knapplc said, I think it's much more prevalent at the national television level or with bigger entities. When I worked in local media, advertisers had very little influence on anything, but that was also because 99% of them weren't slamming down millions and millions of dollars like what happens at the national level. Even the biggest advertising clients couldn't swing that type of leeway locally.

Just another reason I get on my soap box about supporting local news outlets.

I am getting alerts for that forum but don't have permission to view it.

I'm a little curious about NDJ's assertion that he gets alerts from the Shed.  I access HuskerBoard on several different browsers from several different devices. None of them give me alerts when I'm quoted or mentioned in the Shed. For example, @Enhance mentioned me two posts above - I got nothing.

Does anyone get notifications from inside the Shed? Do I have a setting issue on my account?

Good points about local vs national media. There's also a distinction between media that relies on ads vs subscriptions. I really like the subscription model from the point of view of bias, but it hasn't been nearly as successful of a business model as ad revenue.

I had forgotten what a gem Alamo City Husker is. Knew the name sounded familiar but couldn't remember any past conversations (mostly because they've all been like his latest thread, bat-shit crazy), so I went back to his old posts and refreshed my memory.

It's been two years since he came to HuskerBoard. He hasn't been missed.
