Tangent Thread - P&R Edition

It's very obvious some on here love the President and some cannot stand the guy, but for the sake of this football forum, can we at least just be excited that President Trump's conversation with Warren may bring about Husker football which is the one thing that unites all of us on huskerboard?

As @QMany said, does this actually change the school presidents' votes? Would there really be a re-vote? That's the question to me.
That's the big question now.

So...Trump calls Warren and Warren wets down his leg and thinks now it's a great idea to play as soon as possible.  He's got to go convince the U Presidents that "the Cheeto called me and proclaimed we need to be playing football so now you need to vote to play".

I'm guessing that might not be the easiest thing to do.

Why would they forget about the improved private sector economy and reduced government spending over the past 3+ years?

From a football standpoint. Not political. Who actually cares if he calls the PAC12. They have no legit team that is going to contend, majority of their games are played late so no one watches anyway.

Did he do the same thing with the Pac 12 commissioner?

If not, this was nothing more than a political stunt to gain votes in swing states.

But....I guess we could get football out of it.
I have no idea if he has plans to speak with the Pac 12, I doubt it, because like you indicate, his only concern is purely political. He has shown time and again what is right or safe or medically prudent doesn’t matter at all to him. His one and only guiding principle is what benefits DJT. But yeah, we might get football out of it. A month ago I wouldn’t have been for it but I think with what has come to light over past month, it may be best to attempt a season and see how it goes.

The regional media partners nor the players & programs in that area have also not been as vocal for bringing sports back. Yes, there is the obvious political angle as well but I think more of the west coast media would rather focus on what color shoes Kanye West is wearing than bringing back college football.

Congress controls government spending, not the president. This dude mostly divided the country, put kids in cages and destroyed our alliances.

To be fair, this country has been divided for awhile. BLM movement started with Obama in office... who also happened to have built the cages/enclosures. (Chicago-Tribune & Politifact). I'm not trying to defend what Trump has said or done but just want to make sure this isn't another multi-page political debate.

Therefore, bringing it back... I am glad that others outside the Big Ten are going to bat for the programs with both the President and several national media personalities encouraging the return.
