Nada, no shed alerts here either. Maybe there is something to the old myth of "my ears were burning"...

And do we really have to give him the shed password? Isn't it bad enough that he douches up the regular forum.

If he's given the 'Shed password, he's fair game.

Good points about local vs national media. There's also a distinction between media that relies on ads vs subscriptions. I really like the subscription model from the point of view of bias, but it hasn't been nearly as successful of a business model as ad revenue.
Very true. In the newspaper industry, advertising subsidized the cost of print and delivery for decades in order to only offload a nominal cost to the consumer. News also was "free" for an incredibly long time on the internet. These had the unintended (although foreseeable) consequences of building up the notion that professional journalism should either be a) free or b) heavily discounted with most of the cost placed upon advertisers.

The truth is that the business model doesn't work anymore, particularly since coronavirus rapidly impacted advertising budgets. Younger generations are more understanding and accepting of this but don't really have the money/interest to pay yet, and older generations (who still make up the largest portion of news audiences and have the money) are still largely used to what they've always been used to.

The cost of reliable and in-depth reporting is going to have to rely on subscribers more moving forward. The challenge all media entities faces is proving that value to readers and that's not an easy thing to do. People don't see all the hard work and effort that goes into creating a 750 word web story. They think $10 bucks for unlimited spotify is worth it, but $10 for local news isn't, and it's tough to bridge that gap.

You guys know there is a MAGA version of the shed right...? You need a separate password, and have to ask permission to enter.

It's full of posters talking sh*t about liberal leaning members, and others that don't agree with their right leaning views...  :dunno

I know the MAGA members were asking for a safe space where they could post without the mean libtards ruining all their Trumpy fun, so if they got it, good for them. They belong in the shallow end of the pool.
