Can you at least try to educate yourself?

In the 2019-2020 flu season there were up to 60,000 deaths.

In the last six months alone 200,000 Americans died of covid-19.

It's not like the flu. The people you're hearing that from are lying to you. Get better sources.

there is a lot of funny in that post.  You do understand the use and meaning of "like" or do you need to educate yourself?

Step down off of your high horse. You are also being lied to about the amount of deaths. Yes, COVID-19 is deadlier than the flu and has accounted for higher deaths, but stating "200,000 Americans died of COVID-19" is not an accurate statement. 200,000 Americans may have died while having COVID-19, but they did not necessary die because of COVID-19. There is an important difference in those two statements.

Nonetheless, COVID-19 and the flu have many of the same symptoms and manner in which they are both transmitted - so they are alike.

Uh, buddy - it's not "my high horse."

It's the CDC.

If you think you have a better number than the CDC, by all means share. How many Americans have died of Covid-19? Climb right up there on your highest of horses before you answer, too!

Wow - groundbreaking stuff. And my retort is the co-morbidity number recently released by the CDC. Also, numerous reports of persons that have passed away due to unrelated causes but that have been reported as COVID-19 deaths. In fact, I've had multiple persons/potential clients inquire/want to pursue suits against hospitals involved in the hospital funding scheme that exists for reporting deaths as COVID but it simply isn't worth my time to take on a contingency basis.

yeah almost as big as the flu.... :)
Dumbass

I provide a link to the CDC dashboard showing current Covid-related fatalities and you provide anecdotes.

Cool story.

Jesus Tapdancing Christ, we're STILL doing this s#!t?

So I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at here and it seems like you're operating under a train of thought that is at a fundamental opposition to the way deaths are a) recorded as a standard and b) understood in the medical community.

For example, for 6% of the overall deaths reported by the CDC, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. However, most death certificates list other additional causes such as pneumonia or respiratory failure. Those other contributing factors would NOT have been present had the person NOT contracted COVID-19. So, those deaths have to be attributed to COVID-19. This isn't an opinion, either. This is the widely accepted method of recording deaths in the medical community.

An opposite example would be a cancer patient who is rear-ended at an intersection and killed. This would not be recorded as a cancer death because the cancer didn't contribute to the cause of death.

I agree with @knapplc too - these types of conversations demand better foundational support outside of anecdotes. If you believe death certificates are erroneously reporting deaths as being related COVID-19, is there some sort of verifiable proof we can associate with this? How widespread is the issue? I'm sure there's a margin of error with death certificates in general, but are you suggesting a pervasive enough problem that would significantly skew the CDC's reports by thousands or even tens of thousands of deaths?

Ok, now take the comorbidities out of influenza and Covid 19 is still much worse.

I think that we should be playing football and the developmental cost of kids missing another year in school is too high to keep them home again, but I’m not going to be an ostrichesque f#&%tard about it.  You can’t say “durr it’s another flu muh comorbidities,” and only take them out of Covid.  There is some alcoholic level of denial and magical thinking from people who deny the lethality of Covid-19.

I’d rather listen to Roxy recite her Facebook feed for 69 hours than listen to morons espouse ignorance in my woodshed happy place.

This is code for:  In no universe did I find this actionable but a couple blowhards walked in and asked questions so I'm going to bring it up to try and win an internet argument.

Get this trash cheap lawyer s#!t out of here.
