I wonder what things are gonna look like under the fDOTUS (first dictator of the U.S.), like will there still be state and local elections? I assume if Trump doesn't like a governor or senator or rep he'll just have them replaced somehow. There will definitely be black cars with tinted windows whisking people away who we never hear from again, as Trump has already shown he's inhumane. It's gonna be a wild ride. Keeping democracy would have been a lot easier than gaining it. Look at Belarus.

Yes the loser is entitled to blame "long lines in Ohio" to save face.  That's not incendiary as "voter suppression" or "russian collusion" which tells the rubes that that they actually deserved to win but got cheated.  That leads to dangerous instability, even in America.

With every post it becomes more clear he's not here to deal in reality but just play his little GOP f#&%boy games.

Yeah, he is a total and complete douche. I wish everyone would put him on ignore so he would go elsewhere to play his f#&%boy games. There is zero value in trying to engage him on any level. Nada. Zilch.

I get that @Guy Chamberlin has argued in favor of him as basically the Will Hunting of Trump supporters, and I don't totally disagree, he's clearly intelligent.

The problem is he's never in there in good faith. He's always there to shift the goalposts, to deflect, to jiu-jitsu attacks on Trump into somehow actually what Democrats are guilty of.

So basically it becomes an argument about whether having someone there in entirely bad faith for the sake of an opposing viewpoint is worth it.

It’s not worth it. All he does is interject his drive-by talking points. When questioned or pressed he moves the goal posts, deflects or completely ignores it. I don’t think he is intelligent at all. If he were he could attempt a defense or explanation of his views. He doesn’t do that and when he does it is outside the realm of reality. f#&% him and his opposing viewpoint. Nobody is learning a single thing from his bullsh#t.

I feel like NDJ is representative of at least 30% of the voting population right now. I know these people.

Yeah. That's kinda why I prefer not to let their posts go unchallenged. Or pretend they don't exist. "These people" just might reelect the f#&%er.

Can you name a Trump supporter who makes a better, less-douchey case than Notre Dame Joe? Or are we admitting that anyone who defends Trump is — by default — ignorant, unreachable, and better off ignored?

I kinda like that Trump supporters might be intimidated to jump in here, where they're outnumbered by people who understand history, Constitutionality and decency, But wouldn't it be really weird to have no Trump supporters on the Politics thread of a HuskerBoard website, representing a state that happily elected both Trump and Pete Ricketts?

When you respond to Notre Dame Joe, you're also challenging lurkers who might think he just made a good point. 8% of the time he actually has a good point.

Some of you are giving him way too much power.

I really don't mind anyone wanting to defend or support repubs or Trump. Really. But yeah, at this point in time it is sort of a catch 22 as it's all pretty indefensible.

The problem I have with NDJ is he is not operating in good faith or being honest. Maybe he is just that blindly loyal and/or stupid but it feels a lot more like he is here for a purpose other than honest discussion. So if he f#cked off and disappeared I don't feel it would hurt the community one little bit. I get your point that it all may serve as a lesson for the lurkers who may want to ill advisedly jump into the fray and his inability to defend his positions may cause them to think twice or reconsider their position. But I also think that is giving him way more credit than any real benefit it may provide. IDK, I wouldn't miss him at all and I don't feel our discussions would either.

I think the case for trying to reach and possibly educate or sway the anons +1'ing NDJ's post is the best and possibly the only case for why interacting with him can improve P&R.

I'll also agree there are some rare instances I find his posts legitimately insightful and glean something useful from them.

And then there's today, like most days, when he just rolls in to drop a "But Hunter Biden..." and leaves.

I think that actually tells us a lot more about the state of Dear Leader's campaign at the moment than anything.

Being completely honest, I've had him on ignore for awhile and I try very hard to avoid reading anything he has to say. Really the most frustrating thing for me is not what NDJ has to say but rather the handful of people who keep responding to him like it will make any difference whatsoever. I know it can be very hard and sometimes impossible to let ridiculously wrong minded things go but dang people, consider the source and the history of that source. You aren't going to reach him. Like you say, the only glimmer of hope is that some lurkers may have some realizations.

Exactly...no one is changing minds of anyone else, especially not on a postboard and especially not over politics.  That is like thinking you are going to get someone to change their faith (assuming they are super big into their faith) over a postboard.

I have seen dorks ask for stock picks, investing advice, marriage advice, advice on raising kids, car buying advice, car repair advice, old folk home advice, MEDICAL advice...and people will listen and thank everyone for chiming in with their thoughts...(By the way, I have done lots of these)

That s#!t don't work for politics or religion, no one is asking for anyone's advice...or which Husker team is the best or if a certain Husker team from one year could beat certain other teams of other years.  Everyone just wants to talk the loudest.

Just like NDJ is not changing Danny's mind, no one is going to change his.
