Especially on game day. If Frost is going to be involved so heavily on offense he is not paying very close attention to defense or special teams he needs someone to make sure we line up correctly- have the right amount of guys on the field etc. Someone must be accountable.

He did mention special teams and QBs as areas he hopes to be able to focus more on with Lubick taking some of the playcalling.

Conclusion: Husker fans often think they know more about what's going on than the coaches.  It is often proven that they are completely wrong.

Riley had a dedicated special teams coordinator and gave several scholarship out specifically for specialists.  The results were pretty poor.

Frost had a position coach with the Special Teams Coordinator title for his first two years here.  The results were pretty poor.

There isn't one "right" way to do it.  If there was, everyone would do it that way.

There isn't any guarantee that doing it a certain way will produce great results.  We've tried them all in the last six years and failed at all of them.

Frost saw it wasn't working and is going a different direction.  That's pretty much what people wanted him to do.  He might not have gone about it exactly like people want but, as illustrated above, that really doesn't mean much.

Both of the bolded are misleading and false. Every fanbase will have fans that claim better athletes are on the bench but I don't think the outcry was more disproportionate under Pelini then it is say now. In fact, I think fans under Frost have been worse about Frost not playing better athletes (see McCaffrey before this season and the WR position). Also, I would not agree recruiting got significantly worse after Pelini left. Instead, there has been an uptick (barely), see 247 Avg Rating:

Sure... players left (but that happened under Pelini as well). The purpose of the post and figures was to evidence recruiting didn't significantly dip after Pelini as stated; instead, recruiting (not necessarily player retention) has gotten better.

Not anywhere close to at the level of leaving that happened under Riley.  Just look at the 2017 class alone.

I didn't say people complained less.  But there weren't any players that suddenly got to play and looked great just because we were running a "more simple" defense.

And it is pretty clear that Pelini recruited noticeably than Riley, despite people consistently hyping Riley and disparaging Pelini.  Admittedly Pelini's results fell off as he was expecting to be fired and constantly fighting the administration.

Not done yet but here's where we stand right now.  Star average for 20 should be slightly higher as they have Gifford on the list when he really shouldn't be.

Your figures are presumably correct but I think the point was that fans complained about Pelini struggling on the recruiting trail during his final few years and it turned out that Pelini was an excellent talent evaluator regardless of stars/ratings. Whereas Riley may have been great at the stars/ratings but was poor in the talent evaluation of players. 

You also cannot summarize a coach simply by his recruiting ranking. Pelini had a dark cloud from the NU Administration (specifically Perlman & Eichorst) that was used to hurt our recruiting efforts for several years. Despite that, he brought in a lot of talent and coached them up well to win consistently. Frost has been restocking the talent in the program which has taken longer than any of us had hope but I believe is improving and will hopefully show next season.

I think your post supports my point in that recruiting has improved with Frost over Pelini. In 7 years of Pelini recruiting he had a rating over .88 once. In just three (soon to be four) years Frost has done that twice. You stated its been substantially worse but the evidence does not support that.

I think it has gotten better under Frost.  Many thought Pelini was a terrible recruiter and were falling all over themselves about Riley's recruiting.  That proved to be completely backwards.

If you go back & look at overall classes (not just Nebraska), I think there's been some grade inflation in general with the recruiting sites over the years - the average grade has drifted upward.
