Does she live in Columbus by any chance? I know a hairdresser this applies to.

Old friends of ours. Stopped by to see them in late November. It was quite shocking to realize how wrapped up in the whole "stolen election" they were. She was absolutely convinced at that point that Trump would be sworn in Jan 20th. OAN was mentioned more than once... These used to be very good friends. I'll still be civil but I no longer have any desire to go out of my way to see them again. The ability for rational thought has left them.

And, coincidentally, they both abhored the masks and yes, wait for it.....they both had had Covid and recovered. They were spouting all kinds of medical "facts" about how they were now immune for years blah blah blah. Of course the "facts" they got from their chosen news sources and not, you know, actual medical or scientific people. Sad.

Nope, that'd be funny though. I think she'll go to someone else now. She told her she hates Trump so maybe that will shut her up but... maybe not. I feel this kind of thing is going to get worse, not better. More people will fill Trump's shoes and use it to their advantage.

As I was trying to explain to them that Trump lost and there was no evidence of the steal, I mentioned that I had voted for Biden because I couldn't stand Trump. Literally knocked the wind out of them. They simply couldn't believe it. Then they went on a rant about Biden photos with his hands all over children, Hunter, China and a couple other things. I tried explaining I really didn't like Joe either but felt he was much less dangerous. They simply couldn't process it. I might as well have been Nancy Pelosi standing there talking to them  :lol: . Let me tell ya, the cult and brainwashing are very real. These were reasonable people not that many years ago.

I think discussing political views will always come with a measure of consternation.

But, there are a lot of things people try to suggest are 'political views' that are really just examples of them being a straight up d!(k. Like the whole Gina Carano thing. Making fun of transgenders isn't a political view. Promoting false election fraud claims isn't a political view. Tying that all up into a bow by suggesting your plight in life is that of a Jew during the Holocaust isn't a political view either.

That's the kind of stuff we need to separate from being a 'political view.'

That absolutely is a political view, incorrect or not it absolutely is.

Take the word political out of it.  People are going to stop sharing opinions in a few years from fear of being canceled, fired, hell jailed even.  We're already there in some instances.
