Florida has been open for quite some time and is in the bottom half of deaths per million by state while having the second oldest population in the US. Statistically speaking, FL should be near the top of deaths per 100,000 because of who the virus targets for severe symptoms.
Texas seems to be doing well so far post Neanderthal thinking opening and is currently right at average for deaths per 100,000 by state.
States in the Northeast have been expanding their reopening but those states didn’t seem to get Dr. Gupta’s attention. Could be that he has a political narrative to make.
