I still remember when Republicans told Democrats that legalizing gay marriage would be a slippery slope to normalizing pedophilia. Wonder who was right about that one.

I've always kind of felt most Libertarians are just folks who want to feel more enlightened and are ashamed to admit they're Republicans, but some of them are just smarmy f#&%ing a$$h@!es, too.

Most people who self-identify as "Libertarians" do so because they don't want people to know they're right-wing Republicans.

Never pay attention to how people describe themselves. Pay attention to what they say. That's how they out themselves.

We have maybe four posters who openly identify as Republican and willfully engage the libtards with standard-issue conservative talking points.

But you almost never see them here at the same time. Notre Dame Joe disappears for months. So does Redux. Admo picks his spots. ActualCornHusker is currently on a roll. Archy is a constant.

Last I checked the poll was 19-3 against the Alito draft. Another reminder that HuskerBoard is a very different place than Nebraska.

What's odd is that none of of our most conservative friends say they want Trump to run again, and most are willing to admit the party is leaning towards Clown Show. Some claim they couldn't bring themselves to vote for Trump in 2020. They take turns having moments of reasonable conversation.

And yet the drift to the extreme right continues. Something doesn't add up.

This phenomenon is likely that conservatives and libertarians don't center their entire lives around politics and make it their religion like lefties do. Most average, respectable people would rather not concern themselves with politics at all if they had their choice.

But what people refer to as the far-right or as you put it "extreme right" is simply a growing sect of conservatives and everyday people who have seen the insanity of radical-left policies and societal effects of "progressivism" work their way into their lives, and now they're finally standing up and pushing back.

So if you want to blame anyone for MTG, Boebert, etc, look no further than the Dem party, which has not just slid but sprinted to the left over the past decade or so and forced their deluded religious ideas onto people against their will. The past hundred years or so has consisted of Republicans being weak, spineless people who caved on every demand of the democrats. So if The New Right is more authoritarian than you or I would like, you only have leftists to blame for that.

You do realize that the left has been pushing sexualizing of children OUT IN THE OPEN... GMA recently had on an 11-year-old gay boy who dresses in drag

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/good-morning-america-promotes-child-drag-queen/

and that same boy danced on stage at a gay strip club

https://www.minq.com/style/2469801/11-year-old-drag-kids-family-investigated-after-letting-him-perform-in-gay-club/

So you can try to deny that the left is pushing pedophilia to be normalized, but that flies in the face of facts.

Not sure what country you're watching. America has moved so far to the right in recent decades that today's Democrats would qualify as centrists, as would Ronald Reagan.

If you think the Democratic Party has given way to the Leftists, that will come as a shock to the Leftists. The Right's own obsessive ideologues sold you on the slippery slope to socialism, but you never bothered to learn what socialism is and isn't, or how America has actually worked for most of its history.  The stuff about trans rights and critical race theory has come a little hard and fast for some, but so did the right of races to co-mingle or women to work just a couple generations ago. "Progressive" isn't always a dirty word. It's usually at the root of what some like to call American Exceptionalism. I

So tell me: what does the New Right want? Bonus points if your answer doesn't contain deluded religious ideas the New Right wants to force on people against their will.

I remember this story unfolding, and I didn't like it at all.  Drag is a world of adult sexualization, and I'm extremely uncomfortable celebrating a pre-adolescent acting out as a sexualized adult in any form.  The same people who called this courageous would never have championed an 11 year old girl dressed that way and strutting for men. It's wildly hypocritical, because in fact, liberals are on record against pedophilia, child trafficking, and sexual exploitation as evidenced by tons of global human rights activism.

I honestly don't know where the political parties fall on Honey Boo-Boo and Toddlers & Tiaras.

Liberals don't want pedophilia to be normalized. But they totally got paralyzed by the political correctness of this case, and they definitely need to answer for it.

So who, then, specifically is the left? Because I'm a liberal who agrees with you on this.

I don't like political correctness culture contorting itself to create a reason to support this kid. I also don't like people who criticize said culture and use their criticism as an easy excuse to just be a$$h@!es.

So maybe your'e right and "the left" is defending this. If they are, I don't know who they are and I'm no tlistening to them anyway. Anymore than I suggest the right are all Hitler sympathizers because a bunch of hateful asshats carrying Tiki torches love MAGA hats.

The difference between us is I'll roundly call out our bad actors.

This is more of a you problem than anything. This belief is very common.

I think one could argue that the Democrats moved right when Clinton was in office with a lot of his policies around drugs & police, but the Democrats took a sharp left turn and jammed their foot to the floor around 2012, and have grown exponentially more radical since then.

Republicans have a small faction of Q-Anon types that have strange beliefs, most of which are mostly harmless. The Democratic party has made their political radicals mainstream.

What are your examples of Democratic "radicalism?"
