WOW THIS IS BIG

I am pretty sure that his contract has a buyout clause that has to be met. Also, many also have clasues that can forfeit a buyout if there is a resignation. I'm sure Pederson dropped a sweetheart contract on Callahan this Sept.

 
Does anyone else feel like a couple of con men came to town and are about to walk away with a lot of cash and meet on some distant tropical beach to celebrate with drinks with little umbrellas and half naked island girls?

it is to save face for the university...pure and simple..........TO is on board with the firing of Cally but not in the middle of the season..........that would look bad.....the boosters are the ones who have raised the cash to get rid of his greedy, egocentric a$$ but if he wants his big nest egg he has to resign if not he will be fired and his nest egg will be tied up in court..........the money is there but majority ofthe boosters and board of regents feel he is undeserving of a full buyout being that the contract was extended just this year and the team has played well................horrible, so now lawyers are involved this will not hurt the program......this is all closed doors good ole boy sh#t..............when it is announced that he has resigned....it will be all lovey dovey and cally coach speaked up............but him pulling all this sh#t and trying to ring the university just proves he is a self righteous pompous greedy f#*k that could'nt carry TO'S jock strap in a wheel barrow.

last but not least freemason I thought you were done being a husker?????????

I have to admit that it does sort of look that way. I wouldn't be surprised if Callahan ran the wishbone next week, just for the hell of it. I think that he is doing everything in his power to get fired as coach of NU; unfortunately, Osborn doesn't seem to want to commit to any sudden action. He was always a very patient guy, you know. It took him better than 20 years to win a NC.

Let's just say that "being a Husker fan" isn't what it used to be. Too many vultures and jackals in the mix, and far too much of this ugliness. Dang, we're starting to resemble Texas. In the meantime, this implosion is very fascinating. I'm also interested in the guided "leaks" that pop up on this board, in terms of sources.

I was looking at him during the tunnel walk, and thought the same thing. Cosgrove didn't even huddle the defensive players during the game or anything, he just sat there with his arms crossed, making suckers out of all of us. He is the most over-paid person in the state right now!!!! Easily. I'm going to throw a party when that sorry SOB is outta here. LAME DUCKS. :madash

Your right, being a Husker fan used to be about winning, alot. Until the Pederson/Callahan experiment. Also it was about doing things the Husker way which is playing your guts out and punching the other team in the mouth until they surrender. Its a lifestyle, its a family.

If you or any of the other people on this board who still back Pederson/Callahan don't understand that, then you obviously want Nebraska to suck, and you never really were Huskers.

 
Tom isn't involved with these buyout negotiations, and I don't think he'll be able to stop some action from being taken.

You just don't get it. I'm not a "fan" of any individual. I don't know enough about any individual staff member to say that he SUCKS. Neither do you, but that hasn't stopped you, has it?

This season has been deeply disappointing, and it is clear that something is amiss. However, the behavior and statements of so-called "fans" has become pathetic. Don't accuse ME of not having been a fan; I always was, and it didn't much matter if they won or lost. I wasn't going to crap on the team or the staff (at least, not TOO much), set the campus on fire, and demand firings by the dozen. I assumed that Coach would catch on, and I still believe that if he had the tenure of Osborn, he would achieve similar accomplishments.

Alas, those days are over, and I truly do fear for the Huskers' future. If you think that we are national laughingstocks now, gentlemen, just wait until the final dustup happens. They will be chuckling about this for years to come.

 
I always bet on the Huskers; I never leave early; I listen to the end; I NEVER boo & I don't call staff or players name. I have supported the team, coaches and players except Cosgrove. I believe that 4 years is enough to show progress. They are in over their heads. The AD was fired for the attitude and tone.

Where did I say that any one person sucks? The coaches' records speak for themselves. Callahan lost his team in Oakland and he has lost this one too. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

We are all fans, but most of us have been embarrassed by a team that has no heart and that comes from no leadership. If you are truely a Nebraska fan you have to realize that changes have to be made. This team had more talent then it did 3 years ago but it may well go down as the worst in the modern day of Husker football. Thats on the leaders (coaches).

I assumed that Coach would catch on, and I still believe that if he had the tenure of Osborn, he would achieve similar accomplishments.

That is your major problem. Callahan has never concerned himself with or embraced Nebraska and its traditions. He was never here for the long haul, it was just a job. He has far surpassed OSBORNE, in the shame and embarrassment he has brought this program. He will never again have a major head coaching job. After Callahan's first season, all comparisons to Osborne were null and void.

Alas, those days are over, and I truly do fear for the Huskers' future. If you think that we are national laughingstocks now, gentlemen, just wait until the final dustup happens. They will be chuckling about this for years to come.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention to this season. Pederson/Callahan MADE us the national laughingstock. That's what we already are. Pearlman and Osborne are trying to turn that around, and bring some of the pride, dignity, and tradition back to our beloved program. Either you need to get on board, or get left behind.
