I'm not a huge follower of recruiting, but looking back at the last few classesCompletely agree. Thank you for expanding on my initial post. We have devoted so much of our recruiting on Edge rushers that we lack depth at Inside LB.
For example, this year we recruited Ashley Williams, Cameron Lenhardt, Noonan, and Rogers (who I thought was LB but 247 has as Edge).
We have one LB commit (Hayden Moore, who I actually really like, think he is underrated) who is our lowest rated commit.
Yes, Edges might be LBs in some regard, but they aren't Inside LBs, a position we desperately need depth at.
2019 class had Henrich, and Jackson Hannah was another recruited LB (more at OLB), but I thought he was way too small and thin once he got to NU, but transferred
2020 class had Keyshawn Greene (immediate transfer), Mauga-Clements (hasn't developed, and looks small), and Zach Slager as a transfer (did nothing at NU)
2021 class had Randolph Kpai (can't seem to put on weight/bulk), Wynden Ho'ohouli (not sure if he's on the team or immediately went back to Hawaii), Mikai Gaybor (have never heard of him), and Seth Malcom (hasn't done anything so far), and Chris Koralevic as a transfer (ok in adding depth, but his talent is limited)
2022 class had Hausmann (good talent, already seeing the field, but being asked to do too much as a true frosh) and Gage Stenger (too early to tell)
This position is a perfect example of when I say that there is a lack of talent on the team. If just looking at recruiting, the position doesn't seem to be doing too bad from the 2020 and 2021 classes, but overall the retainment and development for this position has been a bust. This position group isn't the only group that I feel this way.
