Who should our next HC be?

Disagree, he almost took the Michigan St job, but he and his family decided against joining the toxic culture that was present from that schools scandal. He didn't listen to  big time jobs though because Cincinnati was in the playoff and he didn't want to abandon that. Kirk Herbstreit said it was all about the timing which led to that decision. He may choose to stay in Cincinnati, but he has almost left a few times.

Apparently Notre Dame was after him when Brian Kelly announced he was leaving and Fickell shot that down.  This was before he got the extension at Cincy.  I am not saying its 100% impossible and I would happily welcome Fickell, but it just seems improbable.  I would love to be wrong!

And what if those names tell the AD no when he calls. Then what? People act like the coaches being considered don't have agency of their own. Many of them or their agents will talk to an AD with no intent to leave their current position but to get a pay raise. And that's before considering that there are other AD's looking to hire a coach as well. It's not nearly as simple as you're making it out to be.

If Trev gets 15 "No's", he should resign

Ok so maybe I am wrong about Fickell with my prior post.  Look at this private plan coming and going from LIncoln.  A week ago it was in Austin where Patterson would be.  Tomorrow it's headed for Cincy where Fickell (and Zac Taylor) are, and from Cincy it's going to Sarasota Florida where Urban Meyer now lives.

It looks like this same flight has also been in Charlottle the past 2 weeks.

On 12/25 it’s heading to North Pole where Santa lives.

Turning around Kansas is much more stunning and career satisfying, then rebuilding Nebraska.  That's why he stays and sticks it out.  And see it through.  Just an honest opinion that makes sense to me.  Plus with OU and Longhorns leaving, it provides his team more of an honest chance to play for a conference championship than the B1G does.  It all factors out.  Really good coach though.

A guy like him, at Kansas can stay and put our Pat Fitzgerald type results (generally middle of the pack occasionally tanks, but once in a while has a brilliant season) and never have to worry about job security and leave with the stadium named after him in 40 years. He's essentially got a lifetime contract and will never have to worry about getting knocked back to assistant coach or having to go through Saban's head coach rehab program. Here, if he isn't 9-4 and challenging for the BIG West Title in year 3 he's on the hot seat. By year five if we haven't been in the BIG Championship, he's likely looking at getting ugly canned and going back to a Coordinator position, at best. If I were in his, Campbell, or Klieman's shoes, and never leave. They all are Gary Patterson 2.0.

Urban prolly in Ohio right now given the big game is in columbus......

I doubt he gets to Ohio until Friday since the game is on Saturday. This particular flight will be in Sarasota tomorrow.

Fox' Pre-game show will be there, I'm guessing they get there a few days earlier to do some segments with Ohio St.  When they came to Nebraska was he here from Wednesday on to watch practices and talk to staff/coaches for the show?
