*** Matt Rhule Hired as New Husker Head Coach ***

I'd very much like MJ to remain but I think he has too many loyal fans (me) that need him to move on. We need now to cut the ties to avoid internal strife. I am and will always be a HUGE Mickey fan. Yes I was hoping he'd become our next HC but now is the time to support the new staff. We'll know in a week how well Rhule can relate to young men when announced transfers and commits make decisions. Let's hope for the best for everyone here and give the new staff the support they deserve.

On a side note.. I believe yesterday showed just how close we are to righting the ship and honestly, MJ can walk with his head held high. From the start he said he, this staff and these players would stay or go but the team would be better off and they are.
If Mickey leaves, a lot of recruits and commits move on.

If we are who we think we are yet, Rhule should get good recruits in here.  If we use our NIL money right, and entice players enough, we will get recruits.  Not worried about recruiting this season.  More worried about getting transfers thru the portal.  Recruiting will pay off 3 years from now, but if we are going to compete next season and the season after that, we need portal players.  Last time I looked, I didnt see very many linemen in the portal yet.  Funny season is just around the corner, so be prepared for alot of names to come out of the wood work!

During Rhules' tenure at Baylor his teams never beat a ranked team.  How's that for a stat.
IMO this stat is being a bit over-used.

Yes, he did not beat a ranked team. That is a disappointment. But, Texas finished the 2019 season ranked #25 (whom Baylor beat on Nov. 23 that year) and Baylor was a field goal away in OT with Oklahoma. And that's all after the fact he took over not only a program in disarray, but started coaching at a university in disarray. Imagine what it was like having to recruit to a place with all the crap they had going on.

Winning matters, so I won't disregard the statistic completely. He'll need to prove himself here. But, the fact he didn't get that particular achievement unlocked at Baylor doesn't hold much weight with me in terms of the immediate goals and needs of the program.

Rhule develops guys and puts them in the nfl. Temple had 11 guys drafted during a 3 year period while he was there, more than doubled the number they had had in the previous decade combined. TEMPLE. He also put his fair share of dudes in the nfl in a short period of taking over the dumpster fire at Baylor with only 45 scholarship players to begin with. Kids want a path to NFL and he can do that.

Well, now that it's a done deal, he's talked a bit on Game Day, has a pretty good spiel, I am with him and his program.  GBR!

Oops, I said that after the Scott Frost confirmation of hire.  Riley, too.  Sorry if I jinxed you, Matt.

This comes across as Shanle pitching a fit because we didn't hire the guy he wanted.

Some NFL coach rolled his eyes at Rhule. OK... so? What does that mean?

I have been saying all along, that is a lazy stat. Doing homework you will find exactly what you pointed out and that his teams beat many 8-3 teams.  I am more concerned about did he win the games he was supposed to win. We need to do that FIRST
