Mickey Joseph Arrested For Assault

Seems like you have some sand in your clam buddy. However, spoken like a true simp. I am doing what in America, we call innocent until proven guilty and gathering facts. You on the other hand are acting like you are from the late 1600's Salem, and want to burn at the stake and give out scarlet letters out before getting all the facts. That's a nice mob mentality you have there bud. Money says you are a millennial.
At no point did I say anything about what I think should happen to Mickey.

Not a millennial. Just a grown up that doesn’t play victim about the imaginary ‘mob mentality’ and ‘politically correct cancel culture’ you have been misled into thinking is real.

Also, you are stalking his wife’s old Twitter accounts? Why? What are you looking for exactly?

creepy af, my dude. Even if you are sneaking it in between Andrew Tate tik toks.

Really?  Do you have kids?  I'm pretty sure if I caught someone abusing my daughter they would get strangled.  There was a story a few years back when a father caught some guy sexually abusing his daughter outside and he ended up beating the guy to death.  Was his life in danger? nope.  Did he go to jail for murder?  Also no.  Pretty sure he wouldn't go to jail if he strangled him either.
You know what?  If we find out that there was a person violating one of Mickey's kids I'll eat my words.  Until then I stick to them.

The number of people on this thread who are defending and rationalizing this situation by outlining scenarios where you think battery and strangulation would be ok is frightening.  Truly.

...and this is why I would have locked this thread long ago. "I've heard from..." is the new code for the BS I am about to say might just be made up and intended to stir the pot...or it might have a shred of truth. I don't know, but I want to sound like I am super-well connected.
We get it.... you want the thread locked.... it's the offseason and when stuff like this happens discussion is bound to occur on the topic. You can always stay out of the thread if you don't care for the topic. Everyone is speculating right now across every platform so this isn't unique to Huskerboard.

I remember that event. The dad beat the perp to death with his bare hands.

I have no doubt that if I happened upon that same situation (one of my daughters being sexually abused) that I would have done no different.

Edit: I found the story in question. https://www.foxnews.com/us/texas-father-kills-man-trying-to-sexually-assault-daughter-police-say

There are a couple things going on here.

If you were entertaining the image of Mickey Joseph strangling his wife, would it change the narrative if you found out he was actually fighting with a man he caught with his wife?  Yes. Absolutely. Is one scenario more excusable than the other? Yes. Absolutely. It just is.

But does it excuse Mickey for behavior we are all legally required to control? No.  Should the consequences be severe regardless of who was in the room?  Yes. Has the court of public opinion already cost Joseph millions, regardless of the legal findings still to come? Yes. What are the chances these revelations will be murky and nuanced and creepy? 100%

Is everyone in here wrong and right at the same time? Maybe!

Mob mentality is real, read more at the link.

Mob mentality, herd mentality, pack mentality, groupthink, or crowd psychology — the concept has many names. These all boil down to the same idea: Individuals are influenced by a larger group. Regardless of whether that group includes people in your class, your neighborhood, or an entire nation, you may experience mob mentality.

In the 1950s, researchers conducted a famous conformity experiment that showed how readily people conform or change their behavior to match social norms. It involved:

Interestingly enough, cancel culture is real as well.

Please tell me that the whole 3rd person and someone mentioning it was Steve Taylor is just a nasty rumor on twitter !!!

I've heard a third person, but instead of Steve Taylor, it was a different coach on the former staff.

I've heard from several people this morning (who do not know each other), that MJ caught his wife in bed with her trainer.........who is female.  Anybody hearing similar stories?

I heard similar, not trainer, and the other participant was male.  He aggressively pulled her off of him (DV) and started after him and choking him (strangulation)

I'd just change one word of the above - it wouldn't be excusable, but it would be understandable.

Neither scenario is excusable unless this was a situation where someone was being abused or their life was at risk.  If two consenting adults were hooking up with people other than their sig others I'd say the husband/wife/friend should and would be pissed, and I'd understand they'd be angry, but it wouldn't make any sort of battery or strangulation excusable.

The rest of the examples have something we have not be given yet.....Evidence which gives you charges.  It'll come.  But any conclusion drawn upon absolutely zero evidence is lazy and ignorant.

You know Mickey Joseph was arrested and charged, right? You think that happens without evidence?

Also, once again, Enhance is talking about the likelihood of what will happen. Mickey isn't fired with cause today, and we're not operating as if he is. It's just a matter of exploring what's likely to come.

Not even the law agrees with you.

Abstract

The law recognizes the frailty of human nature by mitigating murder to manslaughter when committed in the heat of passion or under extreme emotional disturbance. Evolutionary analysis entails the scientific study of the principles of human nature. Yet, the law's understanding of human nature is not congruent with evolutionary analysis. To be legally provoked under common law for manslaughter mitigation, a homicide must be in response to one of four kinds of provocation: adultery, mutual combat, false arrest, and violent assault. And under adultery, only sexual infidelity counts. Sexual infidelity is not the only type of infidelity that can push a person into a homicidal rage, and while American jurisdictions have started moving away from the rigid categories, sexual infidelity remains a paradigmatic approach for mitigation. The Model Penal Code attempted to make the law more contextual, but it created a new series of adjudications that are expansive and also incongruent with evolutionary analysis.
