Wiltfong with a cb for N
A hyper-competitive defensive back that didn’t back down when tasked with covering some of the nation’s top wide receivers during Under Armour All-America Game week. Lacks ideal size and length, but tries his best to make up for it with his advanced technique as he constantly puts himself in position to make a play at the catch point. Has experience working in both press-man and off-man coverage. Can get overwhelmed by much larger wide receivers, but will fight with his hands and try his best to throw off the timing of a route. Produced in all three phases as a senior in one of the Peach State’s higher classifications and finished prep career with 12 interceptions to his credit. Tiny frame will likely make life near the line of scrimmage difficult –especially at the Power Five level– but has what it takes to eventually carve out a role as a coverage specialist in an aggressive defensive scheme that wants to put its cornerbacks in a lot of 1-on-1 situations. Biggest thing once he arrives at the college of his choice will be adding mass.
He will get his opportunities trying to cover Coleman. If he can hold his own against him, he should be pretty decent. If Coleman is as good as billed, that will be a huge challenge for Nation and any other DB. But with Turner’s speed, there’s another possible handful. Hopefully the reps will make everyone better. Development. Development. Development.247 updated their scouting reports after the UA bowl, this piece seems to fit well with my understanding of White's defense:
