** 2023 Opponent Preview : Iowa (Game 12) **

If I'm understanding the stats on ESPN correctly, they are allowing around 2.7 yards per punt return.  Oh...how I would love to have some good returns against them to make their punter less of a factor.
Unfortunately we have a whopping 19 yards on 5 returns this year, good for 109th in the country.

No.....just.....no.
Thank you.

If CU, Texass and Iowa never won another game again I wouldn’t have an ounce of sympathy.

I don't want them to win any games or anything, I just think injuries suck regardless of who has them.

So I guess to clarify - I feel bad for the players. I do not feel bad for the fanbase or coaches, every team has to deal with injuries and Ferentz doesn't deserve a narrative of "he doesn't have a lot to work with!" because he is a measurably terrible OC. Not that it's a widespread narrative anyway, but I suspect that's what Kirk would say.

Of course I feel sorry for the players.  I don't like seeing anyone get injured.

But, with all the injuries we have on offense right now, I don't feel one bit sorry for a team we are playing if they have been hit with a bunch of injuries.....especially Iowa.

Lol. I feel ya. Luckily for those teams our sentiment means nothing. But yeah, in no instance do I celebrate injuries.

Their punter, Tory Taylor, is a true weapon we'll probably see playing on Sunday. Not a kicker you want to get into a field position battle with trading punts after 3 and outs. He's averaging 48.6 yd/punt with 18 downed inside the 20 and only 1 touchback all season. If they had even an average offense to go with their D and ST they'd be a very scary team.

He's fun to watch, for sure.

The wording here cracks me up - he hasn't been expected to return since the contract amendment was announced. Barring some "well he didn't fulfill the requirements to roll the contract over, but we're re-signing him separately" BS that is now entirely untenable with the optics overall. If they averaged 21 and won the West that might've worked though.
