Fans once again would be up in arms if that call isn't upheld if roles were reversed and it was NU on offense.  There was no clear view of the guys right hand to see if it was controlling the ball so it being upheld was no shock.  

Fans need to fully see how bad crews are in this conference and be more pissed at this team(that IS NOT very good) let bad refs have a small part in deciding an outcome against a worse team.

If the roles were reversed I wouldn't have a problem with it being overturned. Way too much hand movement, and it looked like his fingers actually opened up off the ball before he rolled over.

We can keep tropping out the tired line that the team needs to play better, but fans across the B1G b!^@h about the poor officiating every week. This is a billion dollar industry, where the officials make very good money for a part time gig. The players and fans deserve better

Sounded like players gambled, failed their assignments, and lost. MSUs first TD drive sounded like that, at least from the way Benning described what he saw on a couple plays.

The defense gave up only 20 points on a day the NU offense was piss poor again with 3 turnovers and less than 300 yards going into the last drive.  And Michigan St, was starting almost every drive at around their own 40 yr line.   
 

It ain’t the defense fault.  They are not going to hold every opponent to 10 points or less no matter how much we want them to.  This loss is solely on the offense 

 
You guys aren't going to believe this, but they just reviewed a Northwestern catch where the ball touched the ground and reversed it - incomplete pass.

It's bizarre how two different crews can see two similar plays completely differently.

Was it last week too or a couple weeks ago where we had a similar play that where it could have gone either way and they said it was a catch? I don't know how you can improve the rule, these are really difficult calls to male live or in review, but maybe there needs to be a lot of off season seminars to get all the officials on the same page with interpretation.

Unpopular Opinion maybe:  Heinrich Haarberg is a division 3 level passer and Marcus SatterField called a good enough game to win.  Heinrich missed tons of open Receivers this game.  His field vision and awareness is terrible.

Either way he is our QB, we can win 2 of the next 3 games that will give the team alot of momentum into next year, have a above 500 record for the first time in a long time.  Keep playing, keep driving, keep learning.  Learn to win, one game at a time, one down at a time, One Snap, One Yard whatever it takes.  

 
Aside from the bad officiating, which hurt both teams at different times, this game mostly looks like Michigan State did their homework and figured out a few things.

They kept a safety deep in center field for that play-action bomb we've been hitting on. Picked it off, on a play that would have been the game-winning touchdown if Haarberg had just thrown it to his receiver. Re-watching that play, Bullock fakes to the center of the field and then cuts back, creating some really good separation. Just as he fakes, Haarberg throws - to the center of the field. He bit on the WR's fake.

Hutmacher was not double-teamed the entire game. He was pretty much contained by their Center one-on-one. Robinson wasn't wreaking havoc like he has the last three games, either. The entire front seven seemed uninspired. For a defense going up against  a banged-up O Line, we should have had a lot more pressure on their QB. I don't know if Polar Bear and Robinson are slowed by injuries, but they have drastically dropped in production the last two games.

Hutmacher may be just wearing down from a full year of playing a lot of snaps.  I know he played some last year, but he wasn't getting as many snaps as he is this year.  That NT takes a beating every game, so it's natural to wear down some.
