We have raccoon poop next to our house. Time to sell.

Absolute worst!  My mom lives in Fontenelle Hills in Bellevue and they have decided to use her deck as their litter box.  She can't get them to stop. She's tried putting coyote urine around the deck, blinding motion lights on the back deck, and still 4-5 days a week she'll come out to a few piles of poop on her deck. She's at her wits end but refuses to take the logical step of selling.

Has she called anyone to do trapping? I was thinking of just going straight to that and skipping the home remedies.

My dad used to trap until he passed away, she hasn't called anyone to come do it. We've talked about it, but at this time, I'm not sure if she wants to spend the money to do that, and I think she enjoys having something she can complain about.

I found this "paintball sentry gun." I wonder if it's legal.

I did further research and this really cracked me up:

"I got a ton of raccoons that like to come to my property at night. They mostly like to wash in my pool and hot tub. They got parasites and like to crap in the pool too. They also eat the fruit from my fruit trees. They are fearless and hiss at my kids. ... I want to try deterrence with paintballs and looking for a gun. Raccoon would be 30-60 ft away. What’s a cheap one?"

- "This is a paintball sub reddit where we talk about having fun playing paintball. This is not a place for advice on how to harm innocent animals."

Reminds me of: "Sir, this is a Wendy's."

Maybe I’m crazy and realize you could get in trouble but, if they were causing issues on my property, I’d shoot the little bastards. (Being extremely careful and conscious of which way I was shooting of course) I’d start with a really good pellet gun but would prob have to move up to a .22. Not sure what the penalty is for discharging a firearm in town but that seems more manageable than having to move.

I'm fairly sure my 86 year old mom who lives alone and can barely manage the stairs would not be a good candidate for a .22 to shoot racoons crapping on her deck.  The kickback alone would probably snap her forearms.

We have 2-3 guns but I don't know how to use them and my husband is at work when the raccoons are poopin'.

That said... we cleaned up the poop that was right up next to the house and there isn't any new poop yet after 3 days. My hope is some other neighbor killed them.

I see all sorts of comments now (I probably notice them more because of going through this, and 2 other previous raccoon incidents) about raccoons being cute, and being humane, and not killing them, and seeing a photo on someone's FB of one sitting on their deck. And I know they have never had a raccoon problem or they'd want to murder them just like I do. Raccoons can kill pets (and even humans) because they have invisible roundworm eggs in their poop. And they can get into attics and live there, and they won't pay rent unless poop counts as payment. I got lucky and they didn't use the attic as a toilet.

Oh they’re cute little rascals…until they start effing up your house or property. I haven’t had any raccoon issues but have had problems with squirrels a couple times. They’re fun to watch but when they start gnawing on your house or fence or getting into your attic then it’s time to start ending them.
