Agree. It would be easier to get close to a candidate if you’re part of their party, or at least that’s what the thinking would be. (I know the shooter wasn’t close).
I dunno if they check party affiliation but I went to a rally once 20 years ago and they asked me a bunch of questions like who I was where I’m from and if I’m a member of the party. I said yes but I wasn’t.
