** 2024 Opponent Preview : UTEP (Game 1) **

They're way more confident than I was expecting them to be. A lot of their fans are predicting an upset.

Honestly, in this day and age you can't afford to take any game for granted as an automatic win. Especially considering NU's propensity to lay giant eggs in big games over the last few years. I personally think it will be a lot closer than the line which last I heard was around 27.5.

We beat LA Tech 28-14 last year. Same record and same conference as UTEP (and they beat UTEP 24-10). I will be pretty disappointed and concerned about Nebraska making a bowl if we don't win by more this year against UTEP. I expect to see significant improvement and that should show in the 1st game.

I agree. But I also think it’s possible that we look a little too good, win by a bunch, and get a little too high on ourselves before the big Colorado game. A little false/faulty confidence.

I’d rather have a bit of a scrapper against UTEP, and walk away with a 21 point win and a bunch to learn from before Colorado. Get the jitters out, hit some dudes, and stay humble.

They need the confidence.  This team doesn't have the mental fortitude yet to be in a scrapper with a 28 point underdog and expect to win a fight with CU the next week.

This needs to be a 5-6 TD romp where 3 QBs play or I'll be worried about CU beating us.

I can see the romp, and will root for it! I just hope they don’t walk away with an unearned confidence if it’s a butt kicking. UTEP isn’t good…which is why they should beat them soundly. I get that.

I also think they can struggle in game one AND beat the snot out of Colorado a week later in front of a nuts crowd.

The only great points he’s making are about the failure of Texas’ public school English programs.
Non-technically, Texas El Paso is sorta Eastern New Mexico with a lil bit of Western Tejas.

Eres comprende, homes?
