** 2024 Opponent Preview : Colorado (Game 2) **

You want to believe we'll line up in the 12 man & 22 man formation stuff and grind out 5 yards per carry and win something like 28-24 in a game where we find some way to contain Hunter.

I can see being more physical than them. But I can't really see us beating them in a passing shootout.

It'll be interesting to see what White does to try to stop their passing game.

IIRC our defense held its own against the Buffs and our offense handed them points

Then it kinda got out of hand…

IDK about a passing shootout but we should definitely get our share through the air. Their D is no bueno. But yes, we will have to find a way to slow down Shedeur, Hunter and Horn. Get some pressure on him and put him on his back a lot would help. We should do much better at that and downfield coverage than NDSU managed. And having an offense that doesn’t literally try to give the game away on every possession will help immensely. I’m sure we’ll get burned a few times but I don’t think often enough to place the game in question. This one is ours.

Its gonna be a close game.  Horn is gonna chew Hartzog up.  Need to be creative to help him out.  Dont know that colorado's D can stop anyone
Yeah that’s a bad matchup for him. Hopefully not too many times he will be over the top of him. I really like Buford. Would’ve preferred him to stay at safety and have another CB like Hill out there to bench Hartzog.

Blye Hill is close to being back, right?

Tony White gotta earn that check with this one.  This is a big defensive test. We need erasers on defense to limit the Buffs explosive plays.  Much like today we may give up one but that’s gotta be it.  We need lots of pressure on their QB or he carves teams up.

Our D line can and should chew up their front 5. Plus timely blitzes and twists will have them passing the ball min 45 times. They will break 2-3 big time plays. Big ones. But if they can’t run at all our front 5 can own them.

if we don’t turn the ball over and control the LOS we grind them to death.

also. The ol Memorial will be ROCKING. blood in our teeth, let’s go.

I think we are all traumatized by the 2nd half when the D was out of gas from having to do everything.  The D played well at the beginning until Sims and Buschini put them in terrible spots.

NU 1st drive - go the length of the field and Sims fumbled in FG position.

CU 1st drive - punt

NU 2nd drive - 39 yard punt (at altitude!)

CU 2nd drive - punt

NU 3rd drive - 30 yard punt (at altitude!)

CU 3rd drive - punt

NU 4th drive - go the length of the field again and Alvano missed a FG

CU 4th drive - punt

NU 5th drive - Sims fumble giving CU a short field

CU 5th drive - FG (impressive hold by the blackshirts not giving up a 1st down)

NU 6th drive - Sims throws a pick on 1st play

CU 6th drive - 1st play of drive scores a TD on a 30 yard pass

NU 7th drive - 25 yard punt (at altitude!)

CU 7th drive - FG as time runs out in the 1st half

We held them scoreless for the first 25 minutes until all hell broke loose.

In the 1st half Shedeur was 14/21 for 134 yards and 1 TD and was sacked 4 times.  CU rushed 12 times for 18 yards.  CU was 3 of 9 on 3rd downs.

I think it's going to inevitably turn into a shootout. Sanders is going to get his 300-400 hundred yards passing.  It is what it is.

Luckily, I think we could drop 50 on their defense this year.
