How do we stack up?

Record breaking performances across the landscape.
Huge wins by top ranked teams. Big time clashes in the first week. Some let downs by losing teams, and some easy pickings for the media to discuss.

we are all giddy about our own team, but do we feel about ourselves, honestly, after week one?

The program appears to be heading in the right direction.  With Rhule preserving Kaelin's redshirt it seems, at least for the moment, that Rhule plans on being here for a while.  Which I always kind of worried about.

We have a legitimate chance to beat Colorado.

I think this is about the best case scenario Nebraska could've had in week one - a strong win against an out-sized and out-manned opponent. QB looked good, the lines looked good, dudes competed. These kinds of wins really can't be taken for granted and a lot of good teams struggled against out-classed opponents this weekend (Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa in the first half).

I still think Nebraska is probably a ~7-win team this season and nothing I saw yesterday really changes that perspective for me other than I feel slighly better about getting to 7-wins than I did before the game.

I’m still a “hoping we go bowling guy”. We did what needed to be done against a lesser team. Something not seen since Bo was here. I’m concerned about our pass D. It’s been a weak link on D for a while. The DL can collapse a pocket, but Ty and Nash are not running down a scrambling QB. Need a dynamic pass rusher to step up. Someone who can create havoc. OL did well. Kept UTEP’s Westmoreland quiet. He’s an NFL guy. I’m just pessimistically optimistic.  Need to see another week or 2 of this and improvement to “relax”.  But again, we looked like we should look against a lesser foe. And we haven’t for years. Which can’t be understated.  Nor can getting backups quality playing time. Again something we probably haven’t seen since Bo.

I agree on the Pass D (specifically, pass rush). It's probably the one area I was most concerned about defensively heading into the season because they haven't had a real savvy and consistent sack specialist for a long time, someone like a Randy Gregory. They won't hit that next level of defensive elitism without it, and it'll make getting off the field on 3rd down more of a challenge.

Some offenses make sacks tough too, though. UTEP's is kind of like that what with the speed, RPO concepts, quick screens, and slants.

The only place I can see Rhule going is Penn State, and I think it would have to be 3-4+ years from now.

Watched OU and Miami.
they were super dynamic and fast, especially on D.
I didn’t necessarily see us being that athletic and in our fits as much, but obviously we took care of business. I’d love to just see an uptick each week of aggressiveness and attacking.
Hopefully we get there. Attack CU relentlessly and cause havoc on D

Gotta get after them early and often.  Can't let Sanders sit back and get comfortable.  His receivers are too good for that.  He and Hunter have been together for a while.  Easier to adjust on the fly knowing what your guy will do.  Wonder if we play more press coverage would it help to let the DL get home.  Hunter does push off quite a bit.  Saw one called against NDSU and several not.

He plans on it, unless Penn State opens up. Then he's gone if they ask. We will get paid a lot for it though via buyout, and hopefully will be in a good spot programmatically by then.
