Consider the atmosphere in Memorial Stadium for the Colorado game. Does anyone see the crowd ever getting that juiced for a game against Iowa?
If we get to November and are having a good enough season that the fan base is still very engaged and it’s a night game….yes.

No, not really.

These "new" rivalry games don't carry the same juice

1.  Older fans don't care the same.

2.  Students don't care because it is "new"

It will be loud, sure, but it won't be the same.

Students are roughly 18-22 years old. That means Iowa has been our Black Friday rivalry game since they were 5-9 years old, and that Iowa has beaten us every year except one since they were 9-13. That's not new, that's normal.

Students make up a tiny % of the crowd and even less on Black Friday because most are at home.

It would be loud but not as loud.

And it is new, because old timers don't talk about it.  I teach HS kids, none of them talk about Iowa.

You do make good points though, I just don't think it is like the CU game.  In fact, because NU has sucked so bad vs Iowa it might actually not be as intense for the students.

No Iowa game will have the same crowd juice as a CU game….or Wisconsin or Michigan or tOSU or USC or Miami etc.  There are 2 factors missing for Iowa.

1- You have to Hate them and feel disrespected by the other team to get that super electric atmosphere. Sure nobody likes Iowa but the hate just isn’t at the required level for most fans. It’s hard to really really hate them when in the back of your mind you sort of feel sorry for them. No CFB fan wishes their team was more like Iowa. Maybe short term or in certain aspects but absolutely nobody wants to watch that paint dry week in and week out.

2- The expectation is always to beat them. For the crowd to get that juiced, there needs to be a bit of a feeling that your team may not win. Iowa is sooo bland and boring. It’s hard to not feel a W is in the bag as long as we don’t beat ourselves. Nebraska fan can’t get that riled up when all you have to do to win is play halfway competent football.
